I’m in the process of planning a 1.25 ctw u prong 5 stone from IDJ and I’m very torn on having it done in all 18k yellow gold or 18k yellow with platinum prongs. Any input to help sway me in either direction would be great!

If it's a U-prong, I would do the same color for the whole thing.

I would only do two tone with an one asked setting and have the shank be 18kt gold. Otherwise, I would do one tone only.

Edit: I mean to say “would only do two tone with an open basket” :oops2:

That is so pretty! I see what you mean about different textures and metals. BGD shows their yellow gold U prong with platinum so that was throwing me off. 0928E4F3-6D98-4A60-8875-9DD76896EB43.jpeg

If the stones are pretty white go with platinum prongs if not go with yellow gold try to compliment the stones color as much as possible

I think if I was going for a YG look, I'd want YG prongs. My prongs on my 3-stone YG ring are also YG and I just find it such a dreamy thing to have an all gold ring.DKJPV_0420_WS-3.jpg

I second @HappyNewLife. My 7 stone band is all "antique gold" (DK blend) and I love seeing the trellis curves when I'm typing.
