14k stamp on outside of earring setting!

I had two sets of studs made and the jeweler from India stamped the 14k stamp on the prominent bar on the outside of each pair of studs. Of course I didn’t notice this until after seeing my earrings on Instagram. They were just shipped so not sure he can pull them back..My question is for those experts that will take pity on me..Can I take them to a local jeweler and will they be able to polish the stamp out? It will be embarrassing to say the least..Thank you in advance..

I would think it could be polished out, but do you really think someone will get that close to your earrings to actually see the stamp? The bar does seem to be below the diamond when looking face on so I would think the stamp will not really be seen by others.

I’ve never seen a stud with it outside in full view. It shouldn’t be there. It’s actually a pretty large stamp but it’s hard to see in the pic. On Instagram it’s easily seen. I hope it’s not noticeable like you said.

Don't worry too much until you see them IRL. I have fretted over the smallest details that show in pics but when the pieces arrived, I hardly noticed. Sometimes I wonder how anyone buys a diamond online after seeing a video enlarged a billion times!

I don't think the marks will be noticeable. But the jeweler is an idiot anyway.

However, if someone, many years from now, asks you, "Is there a scratch on that setting?", you could tell them that the diamonds are a rare perfectly matched pair that deserve to be precisely oriented to each other, and that the jeweler who custom made the settings marked both of them This Side Down so you remember to wear the diamonds in their proper position for optimal viewing.

Or you could have them buffed out it really bothers you. I've always preferred a good story.

Right, I have a couple of sets of studs with very intricate baskets which can't even be seen unless they're taken off... I wouldn't worry about it, I'd be seriously surprised if anyone ever saw it! LOL

I just got them and you’re right..It’s too small to be seen..You see everything in magnification. David Klass offered to buff out the 14k but after seeing how tiny it is I can live with it. I don’t think anyone will get that close! Haha!
