Your Latest Jewelry Purchases/Things You're Considering....

Thank you! I’m so excited! I’ve been looking since January and these are SO hard to find, and when Morgane posted the box, I immediately got the same flutters when I saw Flora for the first time… I can’t believe this incredible box will be on my nightstand.

Do you think I can put a thread in SMYB? It’s not really bing… but there will be bling in it lol…. Or the antique forum?

I’m hoping for some advice on compartment layout design and fabrics … I get so overwhelmed with creative things, cause I’m so not…. And I only have a few pieces, so I would like to have the box with a spot for things as my collection grows.

Antique forum for sure and I can’t wait to follow along! So beautiful.

Oh my, that is quite lovely! I didn't even know there was such a person as a jewelry box restorer :)

Invoice is paid, and restoration project will be starting within a couple weeks.

An Incredible Antique Jewelry Box
… one that along with Flora, will be passed down to my son one day

Words cannot express how excited I am for this. Morgane from The Antique Secret is truly a rare gem. Her passion for antique boxes is a gift to the world of antiques. The incredibly talented Maria from The Antique Box Atelier will be looking at the box next week sometime to see what it needs for the full restoration. I’m hoping to preserve and restore the leather and gilding, Morgane is on a mission to find an antique key, replace the worn silk and trade the green velvet for a light aqua velvet - this will open the door for customizing compartments which I would love to start a thread to get everyone’s ideas… I just don’t know which forum to put the thread in…

Without further ado,

“I like antiques
I like old things
I must be very old underneath…
Because I love beautiful old things”

Ohhhh, but I can’t wait for the one you have that’s coming!

I saw this necklace at a local fine jeweler. It was in their estate case, but it seems to be a recent preloved item as the saleswoman said it was one of the designers they carry (did not mention which one). Center stone is 0.3 ct, and it’s either 1.3 or 1.5 tcw (she told me twice and i just could not keep it in my head). Very substantial size and presence. G/H color, no other specs, but certainly pretty and shiny under the store lights. I really love the design a lot, but am hesitating at the (discounted!) $4K price tag. It would be a nice addition to my white metal/diamond set. Opinions?

Sorry for the truly terrible photo.

It’s beautiful. I think it’s a really lovely take on a flower design!

It’s very pretty but the price is very high for a pre-loved piece and for the carat weight IMO. Unless it’s a known designer…

Thank you, that was kind of what I was feeling. Maybe I will see if they are willing to go down further.

Very pretty, but not inexpensive.

My new pendant. 15k gold and amethyst, circa 1910. It’s about 1” wide. I bought it planning to replace the amethysts with a 5mm OEC and a drop pearl…. I’m not sure what to do now as it’s quite lovely as is though I do find the amethysts a little underwhelming (not vivid or flashy). She’s playing with my rings and the first lilacs from our tree.

I have just collected my original pear cut diamond engagement stone, which has been reset into a platinum sliding bezel pendant for me. It has languished in my jewellery box for the last few years & is too pretty to not be worn. She’s 1.02ct D, VS1.

This turned out so good! Do you love it? I absolutely love it and I usually do not like East West designs!

Well I have only been wearing it for about 4 hours, but I LOVE it. It’s not big by PS terms, but it’s so big & weighty with the bezel compared to my .40 round!

I have just showed Mr T & he said “Oh Wow! I didn’t realise you were setting it that way & it looks amazing! Are you happy?”

He knows if I’m happy, I’m done for now :appl:

I have a few bands coming from eBay that I’m excited about. A platinum eternity band with single cut diamonds and an engraved 18k band IMG_8338.jpegIMG_8337.jpeg

Oh I love this for you and the way you've set it! Also I want to know more about that eternity band I see in the picture!

I’m getting the diamond flower necklace! I proposed a reasonably discounted price and asked them to include the labor/materials to add a jump ring to the chain. I thought the shop might counter a bit higher, but they accepted my proposal - which tells me I probably should have gone lower with that proposal! I don’t do a lot of bargaining like this, but I really do love the necklace and intend to wear it daily, so I’m happy with the price. I’ll post some nicer photos when I have it in hand.

Thank you! The eternity was a surprise the day after the birth of our second daughter (who’s now 14) & symbolised for my husband the safe end & full stop to our baby journey. (Long story, but I was advised against pregnancies due to a medical issue, so both were high risk & we delicately navigated them with the same hospital team of amazing doctors).

I literally can’t remember the carat weight but 1.75tcw rings a bell? It’s 3mm with matched F VS1 diamonds, that are clearly in need of a good scrub :lol-2:
