I’ve been buying a LOT lately. I posted a few items in other threads. Here’s what just arrived today, courtesy of @Vera W — gorgeous pre-loved ACA earring jackets. 0.72 ctw of 0.3 pt f/g melee. I inserted my J colored ACA studs (around 6 mm?? Eep my brain).

I can see the color difference—and I like it. I cannot for the life of me take good shots wearing these beauties. And I admit, the studs need a good scrubbing in the ultrasonic.

Impulsively won this on eBay, so very little "considering" involved. But I'm digging it. 20220924_085942.jpg

Beautiful on your beautiful, young hand!! Sapphire or Tanzanite?

Thank you so much! It's a heated sapphire, 3.2ct. My first true blue one vs my avatar sapphire. A

Wonderful! I love tanzanite but my heart will always be with a gorgeous blue sapphire!

Well, sapphire is my husband's birth stone and yellow is his favorite color - so this was a no-brainer....

Hoping for better luck this time than my last attempt at a yellow sapphire ring when I totally screwed up the design. Planning on framing this beauty in skinny custom cut white diamond baguettes, then a yellow gold bezel setting, then a yellow gold tri-wire band.

@bling_dream19 and @MamaBee - linking you as always because...you know...bling sisters an' all....

I love it @mrs-b the color is sunshine and it's cut beautifully! I love your design...the bezel will make the shape really stand out and the baguettes will frame it beautifully and of coarse the 18kt yg is a home run, that metal just elevates everything. And the tri wire is fabulous! This will be a gorgeous ring and your hubby will love seeing you wear it! You go girl and unheated!

Unheated - AND with a reputable report - yay! I'm thinking of going with DKJ's antique gold for this. The diamonds will have to be custom cut and will be at least a ctw, so this setting won't be insubstantial. I want it to be perfect this time. No cutting corners. :))

Now you have me curious about what your prior ring looked like. Do you still have it?

My Victorian locket arrived :) French in origin and 18 karat gold. I just had to have it when I saw it. I love how it’s the same motif on both sides.

Hi @Mreader -

No, it was a three stone with a 7.4m, Jeff White yellow sapphire (which ended up being too orange for my taste) and 2 x .6+ct cushion sides. The whole thing lacked flow, it looked too squashed together, and the color was off. The setting was as good as it could have been, but the design was wrong from the get-go.

@Mreader - this was the one that didn't work out. Way too orange. And I'll never put cushion cuts next to a round ever again. But - hey! - apart from that...fabulous! :roll2:

I think it’s a pretty three stone but I see what you mean about the color. It reminds me of citrine in fact. I love your new stone! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it :)

Hey @mrs-b,

Are you still working on, or are you finished with, your diamond cluster pendant necklace? I remember you were creating one that would go with your cluster earrings. Would love to hear any updates about it! Sounded like such a pretty piece.

Looking forward to following your yellow sapphire ring project too. I'd like to someday do a pink sapphire ring in a similar manner and I know I'm going to be inspired by yours!

Good morning, @RunningwithScissors and @springerspaniel! :wavey:

I have made precisely -zero- progress with my cluster necklace, as I got stuck in the mire of potential re-sets. To be honest, I've thought about taking the diamonds out of my cluster pieces and resetting them with a set of beautiful peridots I had cut for this very idea. I love good quality peridot - the color is just sublime! - but the idea of removing a 20k stone and replacing it with a $500 stone sort of sticks in my craw a trifle, even tho I think I'd like the finished look better than what I do currently. I remember when I took the diamond out of my first cluster ring and put in my sapphire - the improvement was *extreme*. I'd do it this time, too, except apple green is such a distinctive color - it immediately limits what I can wear those pieces with. So, between the drop in value of the overall pieces and the limited wearability vs giving me a finished look I suspect I'd like better (bright green being one of my favorite colors) I'm sort of stuck.

Instead, I'm planning a 12 station DBTY necklace - each station being a 12 pt diamond with a 4 pt diamond on each side, and a diamond pendant - possibly a pave heart, or a daisy, or a whatever - in the middle. if this scratches the itch, I'll abandon the cluster necklace. if not, then it's back to the drawing board.

I'll keep you posted!

So, I’ve been hunting for a glowing blue or aqua stone or set ring unsuccessfully. Apparently, my pent up desire is too strong to resist other pieces, because I came away from Arizona with these fun beauties. Pictured: Estate ring and bracelet and a new silica pendant. One was not in my budget…. 761C56A0-391D-4FBC-861A-017603B9EB31.jpeg B6491CFC-ACBC-4537-BD01-6D3AF64738DD.jpeg ABD1B7DC-95E6-4EB8-A1D0-202FD93AEF08.jpeg 9E3F925A-B676-47BA-85E0-01239086F471.jpeg B15B7248-EEAC-471A-AA9A-8EA31A954FE6.jpeg
