Yellow gold and vegetables - what do they have in common?

I hated veg as a kid but has grown to like them as I grew up. I disliked YG for years but suddenly realised they look good on my skin. Am I the only one or do people grow to like YG as they age?

Just go in cycles ...80's was YG, then all white metals and now we see a mix of all colors including RG.

I like yellow gold (and rose) too! I think it looks more expensive than white metals. Platinum and white gold can be mistaken for silver.

I like white metal rings and white metal sport watches, but with dress watches I'd prefer RG.

I'm mid-30s, I've always loved yellow gold more than white metals but perhaps it's because, as a kid, I also loved veggies.

I love RG! I guess that's why I love beets, too?? :))

There is only one gold. All the rest are just white metals. And most of those are designed to give the look of silver.

Sure your tastes change as you age, but no, of course there is no liking-gold-gene that expresses at a certain age. Some of us have always loved gold. High-karat gold is just about as luxe as it gets. There is a reason it has been coveted down the ages, and it isn't just because we could strike coins from it. It is gorgeous. The ancients knew it, and outside of the marketing influence that tells us we're supposed to like white metals better, most people like gold just fine.

I didn't even realize it's because I'm seeing it more often because it's coming back into fashion that I like it. The first time I really appreciate a YG piece was when I saw Coati's YG OEC in her avatar. Alas, so few pics of that amazing piece. But that got me looking at YG with new eyes.

From time to time I compile a list of the Pricescope threads that have existed over time about whether yellow gold is coming back into style. There have been a multitude of them over the years. At one point someone suggested that such a list be added to the list of Pricescope helpful threads.

In the meantime, I have to ask you if you are aware of The Gold Thread? Coati has been a participant in it at times!

Re: Yellow gold and vegetables - what do they have in common

I think, fundamentally, I feel more comfortable in white metals, but I'm experiencing a bit of a yellow gold revival lately.

Most of my collection is white metal but I've added some very groovy rose gold and deep yellow gold pieces over the last year. For me, they're more pieces that I wear for a change, rather than core pieces.

I wonder how much of one's preference depends on skin tone. I have "cool" colouring with blue eyes and pink undertones to my very pale skin, so I think that large pieces in deep high-karat yellow gold would really wash me out.

I have a 24-karat-gold ring from Dubai, 22 karat drop earrings from Bahrain, and the rest of my very yellow gold is Tiffany pieces, which although are 18k, are known for the deep yellow colour. I can carry it off if the pieces are not too large, and they look better if I have a tan.

I think Jennifer Aniston wears YG well.

Yellow gold is delicious. Even better than my favorite roast asparagus.

It's also extremely popular in the uber fashionable set right now.

I don't know what a dag is. If it's bad, I am sure you are not one, however. (What is a dag?)

I remember this term coming up in Neighbours a lot. Haven't heard it in so many years! I always got the impression that it was similar to a dork. Well, whatever, I'm sure you're neither!

Re: Yellow gold and vegetables - what do they have in common

I always loved yellow gold above all others and hated veggies (except corn & potatoes... maybe carrots).

Now I love veggies of all sorts and have spent many hours debating whether I want a piece in yellow, white, rose, multi.....

Thanks for the link, Deb. :)) So many yummy pieces there! :appl:  If you like YG, you might want to buy from places that sell according to weight so as to get more bang for the buck. Hope to see more pieces added to that the link soon.

Heheh hello ladies!
Yes well Smith you are right, in slang usage the term 'dag' IS used as an approximation for 'dork' - an unfashionable and possibly socially awkward person... can be an affectionate expression though, not necessarily a cutting insult!

But the word itself refers to the unsightly dread-locked hair that hangs, poo-covered, underneath a sheep's bottom.
This pooey 'dag' becomes a huge attraction for flies, who love to lay their eggs in it.
The maggots then hatch and borrow into the unfortunate little lamb, who then dies an agonising death.
(The flies in outback Australia have to be seen to be believed).

So make of it what you will! :) :)
