Would you please help me choose between these 4 diamonds?

after seeing hca scores of them, i scrolled down to the bottom to write the reply: keep looking. anything scored hca>2 is a no no

Here is the GIA from the diamond flying pig recommended. Thoughts please 2D3F4A7E-5753-4598-9FA5-B4CC54B7A2D9.png

Here is the report for the 2 Carat recommended by flying pig. So, I’m looking for opinions regarding either the 1.75 (GIa above) or this one. 329E6E50-EA73-4BA8-9DB8-8F850F40F3D5.png

Both diamonds are great. The numbers fall within the recommended ideal ranges and HCA score is less than 2.0 for both. The overall appearance is great, there is no significant leakage under the table, the arrows look sharp and there is no wonky pavilion.

The next step is ask JA for Idealscope Image for both stones, to check for light leakage and ask the gemologist if the stones are milky or cloudy. Also, put these stones on hold.

We will go from there.

I will do that now. One other question- I’ve heard not to buy diamonds online because even if the numbers are great, the diamond will be cloudy? How do I avoid “cloudy”?

Oh no. According to JA, they don’t have the Idealscope. This seems like a red flag??

The 1.75ct and 2.01ct suggested by @flyingpig look very promising. Clouds should not be an issue in a VS1 clarity. Hopefully JA can provide advanced images, but just based on the photos, videos and reports, my guess is either of these will be very nice and will blow the 4 you were initially considering out of the water.

Many thanks. JA is telling me no advanced images due to Covid.

Asked JA and the person told me that the stone was not milky or cloudy. I have the 1.75 on hold

Hi all,
I have come such a long way. I was talking to JA and now I have 2 stones to select from. 6746B199-A8C6-4C0B-BDAE-F551D2E9EAC5.png0A3DF4CB-9D24-433B-93B2-0B1B3BE26870.png6746B199-A8C6-4C0B-BDAE-F551D2E9EAC5.png0A3DF4CB-9D24-433B-93B2-0B1B3BE26870.png9E6AB606-5EF8-4736-854F-FD6AA5E68D53.png9E6AB606-5EF8-4736-854F-FD6AA5E68D53.png

Which stone does the ideal scope image go with? is that the IGI stone?

The F is nice. But...
1. It is graded by IGI.
2. Looking at the IS, notice white leakage at 0430. This is noticeable in the video, too.
3. Notice the crown angle is 36. 36 CA with 40.6 CA can work. But often this is what you see: leakage. 35 crown is better.

It looks like we have a winner. Are you concerned that JA is unable to provide IdealScope on the GIA one (report below)50D514C8-17D2-4FEA-8FD8-FC8DCD987E4A.png

I’d take a chance on the GIA 1.75ct with no advanced images over an IGI.

That is the way I’m leaning too. Do you think it is a red flag that they can’t provide images? Thanks a ton.

Not at all. It’s not uncommon, even prior to COVID. You can always purchase a scope and check light return yourself or make a DIY one and return it if it doesn’t meet your expectations. GL

Thanks. Honestly, all of this is above my head, but I want a really nice stone. If I’m jumping in, I might as well go all the way and get something incredible. It will be passed down to my son after I’m gone, so I want him to have something at the “incredible” level

Once you buy the stone, they will ship it from their supplier to JA office for inspection. They should be able to take the idealscope image at that point. You can review the image and can decide if you still want it or ask for refund.

A heads-up. Many vendors are having issues with diamond suppliers and some people are reporting delays or even diamonds not being available. This may happen to you, and then you can just request for refund.

But at the moment, the E is a top quality cut GIA Triple X, at minimum, Tiffany Quality. It trumps most stones De Beers or Cartier offer. It is better than 99.99% of diamonds sold in your local area.

If you want absolute the best, you go with CBI/HPD or Whiteflash ACA.

I understand what Whiteflash ACA means, but please define CBI/HPD. Sorry

Is there one on those websites that you would really recommend, under 20000? I honestly get so lost looking

1.7 G VS1, meeting your requirements. A bit more than 20k

1.8 E VS1, just to give you an idea how much premium they charge over a generic GIA XXX

1.73 H VS2 for 17k

1.72 G VS2. Not the best cut. But still top quality GIA XXX. cheaper

Are three really better than the JA one?

The nice thing about HPD and Whiteflash is that they own their diamonds. CBI sources their own diamond rough and cuts their own diamonds in house to exacting specifications and has them graded by AGS who has higher standards than GIA. Whiteflash doesn’t cut in house but has stones cut to similar exacting specifications and also uses AGS to grade their ACA’s. @flyingpig found you a well proportioned stone from JA but if you want to know you have one of the finest cut diamonds available I would nudge you towards HPD or Whiteflash. Especially if you think you’ll appreciate the difference. My 2 cents only.

Here is Tiffany/Top GIA Ex versus Super Ideal

The question is "how does the JA stone compare?"
Hard to answer without the idealscope image, but it should be much better than the Tiffany Diamond.
