Worry about pave setting - metal gaps

I have been waiting on my jeweler for many months to create a split shank halo setting for our 1.5 cushion cut.

He has sent me a picture of the ring with holes drilled, but without any of the pave or the centre stone put in.

I'm ever so slightly worried that those holes are slightly too far apart for what is conventionally seen in micropave rings, and that there will be random platinum gaps showing between the stones. Or will the stones take up more surface area than the diatmeter of the holes would suggest, thereby "filling" up the ring band a bit more?

The stones should be bigger in diameter than the holes, and so fill up the gaps.

Thanks for the clarification.

Part of me is struggling just a little bit to understand how this achieves the effect where the metal does not show. I presume this is because the top part of the round pave stones (not just the crown, but some of the pavilion as well) are raised well above the surface of the band? Something like the very rough sketch below? Is this right?

Don't forget the space needed for the prongs too.
