Why get a marquise an AGS cert?

So I found an AGS cert'ed marquise.
Why would someone send that type of stone to get an AGS cert?
Is it that they were trying to find a performance standard for marquise? If so, could you assume an AGS marquise would perform better, as why use a poorly cut stone to help find a performance standard?

Or is it only because they are more lenient on color?

What report is it?

According to the website AGSL will only issue DQDs with performance-based cut grade for RBs, princesses, ovals, ECs, and cushions. Gold assigns a proportions-based cut grade GIA-style and AFAIK there are no proportions-standards for marquises... DQR is listed as perfect for those that are not yet covered under the system, or for proprietary cut diamonds, not sure if they will issue DQCs and DQAs for marquises?

I'm not much help to your actual question, but do you have pics of the stone? I'd be curious to see it.

AGS grades a lot of rounds and fancies without a light performance indication.

Yes, but i guess im wondering, what is the value of this? Why would someone choose AGS over a GIA cert if there isnt an evaluation on light performance?

I can get why youd send a stone to EGL, or GIA, and AGS if it has light performance indicators. But what is gained in terms of value for a stone thats AGS cert'ed sans light performance indications?

heres a cutie of a marquise with an AGS cert, but if you look at JA they have pages of them.

Yes, DQR then.
Similar price - slightly higher I think - but faster turnaround, so why not?
ETA: pretty stone...
