Why does my band look so white?

I have a 1.5 karat H VSI triple excellent cut polish and symmetry, no florescence solitaire in 18K yellow gold with a platinum head. I bought an 11 stone H-I Si1 1 karat shared prong eternity band to go with it. I bought it online. The eternity band diamonds look white next to the solitaire. Why? In some lights it looks ok, but the white look usually bothers me. It seems very obvious to me; and I look for more sparkle and colors reflecting from the band stones, but other people think it's pretty. I still have time to return it. I paid $1488 for the band. The same thing usually goes for $3000 in stores, $6200 at Tiffany's. You get what you pay for?

It could be that the stones in the band are cut better than the solitaire, thus facing up whiter. They also could have more fluorescence than the solitaire stone.

My understanding is that smaller stones will appear whiter than a much larger stone of the same color. Happens to me too. The experts here can weigh in and explain why. Sometimes cut will have something to do with it. Maybe not in your case since you have a 3x solitaire.

I agree that it is the size of the stones. You aren't going to see small stones like that reflecting a lot of colored light regardless of the color grade of the stones.

The facets are smaller and will appear brighter/whiter than the larger stone.
