Who Who''s San Diego Lady?

That will be fun, we do that at the Napa wineries.

Linda

I am sooooo happy that you passed!! You deserve a celebration and so what if it''s not on your diet! You are worth it! Having a day off the diet isn''t so bad... you are only human and you''ll be back on track the next day anyways. ENJOY!

Cynthia

SDL~ (another cute avatar!) Congratulations!!!!

Wahoo. (skipping emotie) Yay. (cartwheeling emotie) Hooray. (maybe I should get some emoties)

Congrats, and Mexican is one of my all time faves...yum!

Yoo Hoo Michelle,

Why did you change your Avatar picture???? We loved seeing your beautiful face. Now we have to look at lips??????? HA!!!!

Linda

Wow San Diego Lady, first I fell in love with your avatar, but now I want to see what you look like with the old one. I guess I will have to wait until May 18th!!

Congrats you passed and I can''t believe how much we will have in common and to talk about. I used to work for the City of SD...I know a lot about the politics...most especially with the PD.

I''m so happy for you!!!

Risk Management Department. I had a lot of damage control to do when I got there too.

That was back in the day when Bruce Herring was Labor Relations Manager and Jack McGrory was the City Manager...if I recall.

I sure miss the POA stickers that the motorcycle crew gave me each year. It sure helps one get out of a traffic ticket.
36.gif
Oh, I really missed the PO''s ball every year too, that was pure fun.

I love the PD and FD.

very intersting reading!I have enjoyed getting to know the people on this forum.I understand the line written about jergans and jean nate...I lost my mother a few years ago to alziemers and breast cancer and whenever i see yellow roses or the color turquiose i think of mom...if I smell Aqua vela or old spice i think of dad!

P/S...Oh my Stars...who remembers that saying from the old tv show Bewitched.

My girlfriend married Elizabeth Montgomery''s former husband after Elizabeth died of colon cancer. That was so sad (not my friends marriage, but EM''s untimely death) I really loved that show. I attended their wedding at the Hotel BelAir, but didn''t make any of the pictures that made that year''s InStyle Celebrity Weddings issue. That was probably a good thing, since I don''t look anything like a celebrity.

My favorite shows from when I was younger were always the supernatural ones like "I Dream of Jeannie" and "Bewitched". "My Favorite Martian". I was a big fan of "Highway to Heaven" as well, but could never, ever get through an episode without blubbering my eyes out.

I had the Biggest crush on Samantha when i was a little guy.I remember the diamond heart pendant well.My mothers name was Rose and she loved roses of any color, but she especially loved yellow. My grandmother loved lilacs and her favorite color was lilac. She had several bushes surrounding her home.
Does anyone here on the forum wonder what you will be remembered for?I know already that i will be remembered for my jewelry passion(family and friends say obsession but i say passion)Also friends and family relate me with any thing that has cinnamon or nutmeg in it...we are here on earth for three things...diamonds,brownies(with cinnamon and nutmeg)with cinnomon ice cream and ice cold Dr.Pepper.

Wow,wow, wow! That is a great post! I can so relate to wanting to be remembered for being a person who had a strong belief and faith in God and that ethics and integrity in Everything you say and do is so important, all that a person does will come back to them and affect the people and events around them.I am also conservative politically and am proud of this country we live in.KEEP WRITING...love your fun and interesting posts

Seriously scary how much SDL and I have in common, except the conservative politics part.
10.gif

Actually I am extremely political but not liberal or conservative. I am both and neither. That is probably what I want to be remembered for the most. My love of children and childlike qualities. I know that I will always be remebered for my sense of humor and my compassion. The fact that I love bubble baths but have been without a bathtub in my house for almost two years now...

How hard I worked to make something out of nothing and beat the odds whenever people thought I couldn''t make it. How I like to make people laugh until they cry, but never like to make people cry.

But most of all, I want to be remembered for making a difference.

My Mom died of colon cancer. How sad. I didn''t know that about Elizabeth.

I loved I Dream of Jeannie and Bewitched. There were a lot of good shows growing up (the younger years).. clean, without violence or hints of sex, family type shows...

I''m sorry about your Mom. Cancer is so tragic. My Dad died last year on Earth Day. Although he had AIDS, it was other conditions that lead to his passing. However, having a gay father who came out in the early 60''s pretty much ensures his caretaking kid from being too conservative.

Did you get the job in Dispatch, because if you did...

:::::kneeling and bowing at your feet::::::

It is is one of the most difficult, stressful and important jobs that one can have in such a large city. I can''t wait to meet you. I had always wanted to apply for the Evidence Technicians job, but I never wanted to carry a firearm...until I saw Miss Congeniality. Although I have to say, when the fellows from the SDPD used to take me out at the old fire range off Federal Blvd, they were shocked at my accuracy and started calling me "Lil'' Annie". They did run for cover when I would get excited and not hold the gun down directly to the side. :::shrugs:::: Oops, you need to tell me that the empty cartridges fly out of the gun and brace me for that sort of thing. You are a brave soul and I am so honored that I am going to get to meet you next month. I always like something to look forward to. And SD Lady, you are it.

I hope you can teach me how to accessorize.

Love the new avatar SDL!!!!

SDL, you are an inspiring woman, beautiful both inside and out. You have accomplished so much. You are strong. I wish I could know you in real life. I hope for all the best things to come to you. You deserve all of that and more. You are, I am sure, a great mom, wife, daughter and friend.

You can see that by the posts you get!

Miracles, I got married at the Bel Air, I grew up down the street. And went to school with Elizabeth Montgomery''s son Billy Asher. She was married more than once, I think Robert Foxworth was her last hubby if I am not mistaken.

Also, SDL, LOVE the new avatar. You look incredible.

Miracles, again...my grandfather was an actor. Was on Little House and Michael Landon loved him. My Pop Pop filmed the pilot episode for Highway to Heaven with Helen Hayes. Small world.

Caroline,

Who was your grandfather? I loved Little House on the Prairie, I still watch it.

Linda

He played an old Jewish man who was a woodcarver, Isaac Singerman. The little boy Albert apprentices with him and learns to let go of the stereotypes about Jews that the townspeople hold. It is a great episode, I just watched it on DVD recently with my middle son and we were bawling. Watching him die on tv was really tough.

Sorry to jack, Michelle!

I REMEMBER THAT!!!!! Next time I see it, I will think of you!!!!! How wonderful of you to be able to ses your grandpa on TV. It is like me, having my dad''s old DJ tapes of him on the radio. I get choked up hearing his voice.

OMG, seriously small world. Yup, Robert Foxworth. That''s my friend''s husband. Crazy, isn''t it?

That''s so cool about your grandfather!! I loved Little House too. The Ingalls. I think my parents got that in a boxed set. Is it out on DVD? If so, I will have to watch that episode too, and will think of you when I do.

My Dad was an actor too!! Only got bit parts in film as an extra. He was mostly a stage actor and spent most of his time writing musicals. He never did "make it", but then again he was derailed by an AIDS dx in the early 80''s. I do have one video he was in where he died. It was wierd watching that, so I can relate.

I don''t know SDL well, but from what I can tell, I sure am lucky to be in the same town!

I used to have a terrible time when I was small. He did a lot of episodic tv in the 1960''s and 1970''s. Along with a lot of theater and movies earlier in his career.

He was on Police Woman, Dragnet, tons of shows.

One time, he was on a police show and he was a shop owner who gets shot in a robbery. He is killed or wounded badly. I think I was about four or five and I came in during the scene where he was bleeding on the floor. I got hysterical and my parents called him and had him drive over (he lived a few minutes from us) to show me he was not dead. I could not comprehend tv versus life.

It is weird to watch them. I had not seen this episode from the dvd (think it is season 5 or 6) and put it on. It was so odd to see him, and hear him. I started feeling sad about the times I could have spent visiting him and did not. He died after I was married, maybe 15 years ago. He has an IMDB site, I googled his name it was so bizarre!

Michelle.

LOVE LOVE LOVE your new picture!! Your hair is the perfect length. You are so darn adorable!!!!!

Linda

Yeah, I''m loving your hair cut too. I am still in the interim phase of going from blonde back to brunette for my daughters wedding, but I don''t think I am going to make it. The red phase is killing me. Plus I cut 4 to 5 inches off and it just feels and looks lifeless. I need to just bite the bullet and cut it more and shape it. It just takes so much work ( and product and spray) with my hair like that because it''s fine. Oh well, life could be worse than obsessing over my hair
10.gif
I think I look older as a brunette...boooooooo....

I''m counting on your opinion next month.
36.gif

Michelle, I will cross my fingers and toes that it is not true and you get the job you want.

I love you darker haired. It is so rich and sophisticated looking on you.

I really think it suits you so well.

Oh, that''s terribly disappointing news. However, there are some positions that they do need to fill even when they have a hiring freeze. It''s a horrendous liability for the City if they were to remain understaffed in such a crucial position. Not just in terms of monetary exposure, but to the potential damage such a liability could have on the reputation of the department. I''m still extremely optimistic.

Thank you for confirming the difference in perception of a woman when she is blonde vs. brunette. I only have to go through the "reddish" phase because my natural color is not warm but ashy and my hair has a tendency to take on a green cast if I don''t go dark in stages. I don''t mind the red color for the first few weeks, but after a few washings...not so much.

I am going to have a drink and try to decide what to do with my life.

I tried to modify a picture so it would fit, but I just can''t figure it out, at least for an avatar. Maybe I will just post a pic of the blonde and then the current so you see what I mean. I am not so good at the picture stuff on the computer. Boooo

Speak english!!! I am so bad at the computer stuff in general. I can use my digital camera and upload things to IPhoto and even email them to someone, but that is the extent of my skills. You guys who can do all this cool stuff amaze me. Yikes. I found a cute Hello Kitty that I wanted as my avatar but cannot for the life of me do it. That is why I have the big ole yellow smiley face!

Any news on the job? Is there really a freeze in the area you want to be hired into?

diamondfan, you crack me up!! Trust me, I tried to make an avatar out of the one and only picture that I have allowed anyone to take since I ditched the blonde, and it got distorted no matter what I did. Therefore, I will have to post the whole picture if ever I get the nerve. At least that I can do. I do have a cute avatar that I use on an NFL forum...I am a football freak...and I thought about using that one here. Speaking of football freak...here is a picture of me and my darling bride to be. The last picture taken right before the Chargers choked in the playoffs this year. It was the last home game.

SDl, you will need to see this so you can tell me....HONESTLY....when you see me next month if I should go back to this before the wedding in July.

I''m sorry you have to wait so long for the recruiter to come back. But at least you know not to wait by the phone until then. <------ my attempt at being Pollyanna.
