I always have something! Sometimes I forget to show the odd things I find.
Hubby was happy to have a salt shaker.
I try to limit our salt intake, so we actually didn't have a salt shaker before this!

i dont salt any food durring cooking
it causes WW3 (and WW4, WW5, WW6, WW7 etc etc) some nights

when i was in my early 20's i just gave it up, i dont even salt egg on toast
i mean i do eat salt on potato chips but on hot chips its just lots and lots of black pepper:lol-2:

there is plenty of salt in processed food although i do try to look for the salt reduced
So Gary has his own supply of salt.....................

Now pepper is another matter entirely

forget the great toilet paper shortage, durring lock down we ran out of pepper corns and couldnt get a deliverly slot and the local shop had also run out

so that salt shaker needs a mate real bad

Ah the memories…I was one of the toilet paper hoarding pioneers. Just sayin’.

I knew that it was the one thing that I couldn’t live without. Then we accidentally had a flood in the laundry room and had to hang some of it out to dry. It looked like giant marshmallows on a stick.

Need to find that photo…here we go. July 2020.

That was very industrious if you!
Did it work OK afterwards?
I'm thinking the sheets would've been permanently fused together......

LOL. It did work for the most part. I was surprised. It was as precious as gold back then.

i must say i ddint know wheather to laugh or cry when i saw the picture
we recently had a bathroom flood that came to meet us out in the lounge
and im hoping like crazy the plastic packaging has no holes in
but i know it dried out to a usable (ok for household -not for visitors) if not slightly unusual state

i'm on ban island for all non essential spends right now
property taxes and a tax bill are due as well as a gas bill (oh well the minimum wage goes up next month but hat will probably just fuel more inflation)

so im having a look around the house finding semi historic trade me purchases that where never unpacked
its kind of excitting
two 1960 vintage Irish linen table clothes (brought because i got a rust stain on mum's one)
a trinket box celebrating the Queen Mum's 100th
i wish i could make my phone work
and a 1980's era NZ marlestone jewel box

Sadly, I'm with you on Ban Island, @Daisys and Diamonds. I haven't been feeling the greatest lately, and I hadn't realized how much I was shopping to give myself little pick-me-ups. I need to pump the breaks for a while.

I hope you feel better soon.
I don't like Ban Island. Hope it is a short stay.

The hang tag read “We don’t know what it is either. $12.”

C80844D0-BFB2-45A8-B398-814240EA6205.jpeg

All I knew for sure at the time was that it was exactly what I was looking for - something heavy and elegant that I could use to stop my charge cord from slipping off my new (to me) night stand!

A little investigation once I got home revealed that this is most likely a “newel post finial” - a fancy finial used on fancy stair cases and bannisters. Some of the older crystal ones are going for hundreds of dollars on eBay!

This is how I’m using it. I had originally planned to glue a cord minder to the base, but fortunately it turns out that it’s enough for it to just sit there and look pretty!

And here is the new nightstand. It’s one of a pair, a 2004 reproduction art deco set from the Thomasville Bogart collection. At $350 for a pair they don’t exactly fall into the “haul” category, but they cost a whole lot less than we would have paid for new nightstands, and they fit our space well, and we love the design.

I love that finial! I adore substantial glass items like this. Crystal balls, paperweights etc.
The heavy weight in the hand is so luxurious.
Sweet find!
The nightstand is gorgeous, too!

Happy Easter!

I want to share some photos of pysanky, Ukrainian Easter eggs. I just love them. So intricate and beautiful!

My high school Spanish teacher was of Ukrainian descent, and she showed us how to make these. I never had the right tools and dyes, so I never persued it.
Of course mine have never turned out like these!

Wow so intricate @stracci2000, I can only imagine how long each egg takes to make.

We headed out this morning to a large antique center we’ve been to before and never had any luck at. Well I managed to find a new sterling bracelet with pink stones to add to my stack. Also saw (but did not buy) my first French cut, red stone in a 14k setting.

The settings around the stones are really interesting

Better look at the color

French cut! Maybe a garnet?

Those pink stones look like tourmaline to me!
The French cut is nice! But that bezel looks very worn down. Were there any marks in the ring?
