Who can source a diamond I found onB2C Jewels/BrilliantEarth

Hello everyone,

I found two cushion stones on B2C Jewels that I really like and at a great price. I searched Blue Nile and ERD for the same stones and they didn't come up. I found one of the diamonds on brilliantearth.com for significantly more! B2C Jewels did have an actual photo of the stones and looks like a computer generated ASETs but my bf and I are not comfortable purchasing a diamond without seeing it in person. I read on the forum that B2C has made arrangements for viewing at their office in NYC, but the sales rep told me they cannot. So, I am wondering if another/any vendor can source the stone for me so I can see it in person.

Ask IDJ if its a virtual stone. And they'll price match a competitors lower price. I had been interested in EC's a few years ago through union diamond, but iDJ was able to get runners to run those diamonds over asap. We ended up not purchasing and it was no problem. Idj is great to visit.

They have a good return policy, I haven't heard anyone have trouble with returns.

I have had Good Old Gold call in stones for me two times. The advantage is that they can check for leakage and show you light performance. Their price will be a little more than B2C because of the extra services, but it was worth every penny to me because they were able to narrow down some excellent stones for me. They need the lab report number to see if they can access the stones.

If it's a 'virtual' stone listed on multiple sites, chances are good that a lot of people can get it, including your local jeweler. Of course, not everyone is going to be willing to match the B2C prices. Bringing in a stone to a showroom, making a sales presentation, etc. is not without cost. The same holds for photographs, ASET and Idealscope imaging, etc. 'Free' services aren't free. You can show the B2C ad to your jeweler and ask how much THEY will charge to bring in in and show you that particular stone, and they may even willing to match what you're seeing, but don't assume it.

Thank you for your help! I called a wholesaler, diamondregistry.com, and spoke to a gentlemen that told me where the stone is. I don't think it's possible to get it without purchasing because it's in India where the stone was cut, and they won't send it out unless it's paid for. I did find out that the price is very good though, so B2C has a very low margin, hard to beat.

The big selling proposition at B2C is their pricing although they have a few other features as well and they're pretty aggressive folks. You may be able to make a deal to inspect the piece at a local appraisers office if it's not convenient to go to NYC. As far as I can tell, Brilliant Earth doesn't have a showroom but I'm sure they'll be happy to tell you for sure if you contact them. Where are you? You'll have to pay for the appraisal and return shipping if you don't like it but it's not the same as buying completely blind.

Denverappraisal: I'm located in Canada, my bf in Michigan, but we were planning on going to NYC to look at stones in person. Have you heard of B2C doing that in the past? Sending the stone out to an appraiser prior to purchase? As I understood, they don't have any diamonds in-house so they are just the middleman shipping it to me after it's paid for. I was hoping I could find someone who could buy the stone, that way it would risk free for me, and then I could purchase it from them at an extra cost, or they could send it back and get their refund. Either way the full amount wouldn't come out of my pocket until I know for sure I like it, I could pay a service charge or something.

Could you please give me your opinion on this particular stone I am interested in? I am worried about the leakage around the table being fish-eye.

Do you think the table might look oval instead of seeing the clear facets? I'm nervous because I can see light oval circle around the table in the photo. I don't know if those dimensions would create fish-eye though. The girdle is faceted, not sure if that helps.

A small amount of leakage just inside the table is normal for fancy shapes. The goal is to minimize it, and I think this one is a very small amount. an ASET or this type of lighting will exaggerate leakage, it won't look so obvious.

If you are adamant about having no leakage you should think about moving to a round or one of the precision cut fancies that GOG specializes in.

Yes, I've had them ship things directly to me that I have then shipped off to the client although I don't usually get involved in escrowing the money (It works a little differently when the seller is a private party). You choose the stone, pay them directly, they ship to me and I deliver my report by email. Depending on what you think, I then ship it to you, ship it to a setter, or ship it back to them. If there's a setter involved I reinspect it after the piece is completed, again with a report and photos by email before it gets exported. Unless we're talking about a piece over $50,000, all of this shipping goes by Express mail and/or FedEx so it's easy to get it all done while you're within their return window.

I think they actually do stock a fair amount of stone by the way but it's not clear to me on their sites which ones are theirs and which are virtual. This is true of most of the big internet houses. At B2C, I think the stock items mostly are part of the 'diamond blueprint' program. Ask 'em.

Cushions routinely have a fair amount of leakage just as part of the deal. It has to do with the way the pavilions are cut. Yes, I suspect you will see a ring just inside the edge of the table of that one but I can't give a straight answer without looking at it. This one looks pretty typical. Step 1 is to ask the seller if they have it and, if so, have them look at it. If they don't have it, someone does, and they may be able to get more info out of their supplier. Ask.
