White diamond looking grey/black post bezel setting

I had a few ten pointers that needed to be set. I had my jeweler set them into stacking rings of various colors (white gold, yellow gold and rose gold). I noticed today that the one set in rose gold looks very dark/grey compared to the ones set in yellow and white gold. The stones are far from ideal but I honestly didn’t anticipate such a shift in color. Any idea what could be causing it?

Do you have pictures of the stones unset?
Do you have a loupe to look at the bezel from under the mounting? Maybe there is some black polishing compound stuck under there? Happened on a rose cut bezel stacker I have.

I don’t have pictures of the stones under but al three were part of one earring - I’m sure I would have noticed if the color discrepancy was that noticeable though.

I did think it might have been something inside the bezel. Just out of curiosity, how did you get the polishing compound out? Did the stone have to be removed?

Use a loupe to look closely from both the top and bottom of the bezel.
See any black goo where there should be none?
Use very warm water and blue dawn dish soap and soak.
Soft new toothbrush or paintbrush to gently loosen/wash the goo away.
It was many years ago- but I believe I got a bit frustrated with mine and poked at it with a toothpick, then a needle, to get it going.

Thanks so much for the info/advice! I soaked it in dish soap and used a soft bristle brush and it cleaned up nicely!

It sounds like it was resolved but if not get it professionally steam cleaned.
Some times that is the only way to remove polishing compound.
