Which Tiffany setting?

Hey @CareBear and @HappyNewLife! I’m actually going to see my sister today and will inspect her plain platinum solitaire setting from BN. I’ll take note of the weight and patina as it hasn’t been polished in a few years. She’s quite happy with the ring... I would be too if I had a D color 3 carat asscher!

I tried on my sister's platinum solitaire and I appreciate the heft of the metal and the fact that I will never need to replate it.

I am wondering if the quality of the Vatche will be noticeably better by leaps and bounds compared to the BN and WF versions. Is the Vatche U113 hand forged? Is it pretty much a custom piece vs a stock shank + peg head? Will they adjust the thickness of the shank based on the size of the stone, and if so, what would that be in mm for a 2.5 stone?

I may have found a vendor that will sell it in platinum for a 2.5 stone for $1600. It's still 2x the price of the BN setting in plat so am wondering if it's worth it.
