Your ring is one of my favourites on PS - that gentle gradient on the shoulders. However the rings that are set higher provide more of a presence on your finger and they really suit you.

Thanks for the advice Polished :wavey: . I really appreciate it.Also, thanks for complimenting my ring. :twirl: That is a good way of putting it - presence on my finger. I agree.
I don't want to disrupt the ring, but I feel like it is "not me." I feel like it is a little dainty and thin on my finger and i want to feel thick/substantial something. Every jeweler goes crazy over the stone, esp when they look through a loupe. So maybe i should invest in a good setting. :) The funny thing is I originally bought it just for the stone, I bought the setting too because I knew i'd be picky w/ settings, so it was already set, etc.....but then I'm like seeing how everyone objectively loves the original setting and I don't want to ignore that. maybe I should just get used to the daintiness for my 6.75 finger???

 Do you have any suggestions??? I want something a little wider, higher, i tend to like diamonds on the side and glittery / sparkly look; i like beadset stones, milligrain, etc. but also like thick, contemporary shiny metal too. I am not too into halos, but if it was Below the diamond and very minimal, it might be ok. Any ideas?????? I really want to wrap this up - it's going on 2 years in December!! :wavey: :wavey:

Know thyself! It's better than any advice anyone could give you.

I'm glad you're keeping your current ering intact. Changing or departing with that too hastily would seem like a case of not knowing what you've got till it's gone.

With your new project, don't be in too much of a rush to "get it done" (says me who's just ordered up another Van Craeynest ring!), it sounds like you have a lot of ideas going on regarding stone shape and different settings (thick and substantial helps to narrow it down!), give them time, to allow them to define, what's really you and what's going to make you happy to wear.

Hello,

Just curious, why don't you like your original setting? I'm asking because I am seriously on my third ring that I just ordered last week and hoping and praying it will be what I want. I had a Verragio set, didn't like. Then a set from a local store that I was able to trade for the one I'm waiting on.
So just wondering what it is that is making you still shop?

Thanks
Brooke

Hi Brooke!
Thanks for voting! :wavey: I originally bought the ring for the diamond, the setting i paid extra for (it was sold set already) - i bought this stone for a possible setting in a square halo or something. It's been 2yrs, and no new setting because I have seen THOUSANDS in person and online and haven't seen anything perfect. I don't want to custom make anything because I don't know if it will be what i want - u know what? i don't really know what i want! I do, but it's like i have to find it i guess , then i will know (hopefully!)

THe only 2 settings that i liked were these 2, the trellis and graduated.

To answer your question re: why i don't like my orig setting, i like it from most angles, but the top view - from the and the profile is low and the top view is skinny/straight and i have 6.5 fingers. it would also be nice to have a "new" setting to make the ring more "mine" as it was obvi prev loved (very old diamond). The shank is thin (that is how they sized it) and although it fits great w/ other bands, I tend to like comfort fit bands that feel "good" going on my finger. U know?? ;)

Guess what Brooke! I even went as far as ordering a NEW wedding set (thousands of dollars) and then after Gypsy's (and others) help last night, cancelled the order this morning!! Why? Because I didn't have a new diamond yet (cushion) and they said i really should because the setting was only to fit a certain size stone and i'd be limited. So I really really want to find something i love and enjoy - whether i get a whole new diamond (if it will be a solitaire, it would have to be a 2.25 -2.5 cushion) or change my setting and save $25k. It's really crazy!!!!!!

Did u try Adiamor?? They have a lot of settings, 30 day full refund. Other sites let u try on the setting first. :read:

I also never changed the setting because i did a few polls and the original setting has won hands down time and time again. I feel like they are objective and see something in the setting. When the jeweler was looking at my diamond through a loupe, the setting LOOKED SO PRETTY because it does from most angles, as i said it's the low profile and it's straight/thin for my fat finger.......

You must check out the site Simone & Son.

If I could start all over I would buy something from them. I actually have been in contact with the deisgner Shant and he was willing to use my materials and custom make me a new ring.

Take a look, maybe you will finally find what you're looking for.

The first Steven Kirsch is very pretty. And with a matching band it would be awesome! It's funny because it looks nothing like you have been looking at which is exactly what happened to me. I'm just still hoping the ring coming in soon will be what I want. Getting nervous.

The second one is pretty but I wouldn't like the band and not being able to wear a band along with it.

Thanks Brooke! I never heard of that site and I've seen thousands of settings. I am going to that site right now.
THe settings u posted are very pretty. I love all shapes and settings, antiquey to contemporary - think lucida with plain platin. tapered band!! :twirl: Earlier this a.m. i found this setting too on S Kirsch: what do u think of this one?

This ring you had me look at is very pretty, do you like the split shank better? I checked out the Steven Kirsch site last night per your request and I pretty much love all of the halo styles. For some reason the cushion style halo with the cushion cut diamond are the only halo's I really like.
So I am taking it you are getting a new cushion cut diamond? Is that because you aren't having any luck with your diamond? I thought before you mentioned you didn't like halo's? Also what type of diamonds do you like on the shank? Pave, micro pave...etc? The Steven Kirsch site has a lot of information you can read about the different types of pave.

There was another site I thought you might want to check out because the e-ring and band sit flush on a lot of the styles.
It's www.PrecisionSet.com... I promise this will be the last one I suggest. I"m sure you have checked out Tacori ?

THanks u gals. I have a thinner ring I could try and maybe a thin diamond band, that' s a cool idea.
The graduated setting - does it look unusually shaped to you?? extra round/wide towards base? i see in pic my fingers aren't close together, like w/ trellis setting......

I actually do see this, but I don't think it looks bad! Do you think it might be uncomfortable?

I like your original setting too, but the problem is I don't think you like it, and that's ok! There's nothing wrong with that. Jewelry should make us happy, and if the setting is keeping you from enjoying your diamond, I think you should change it. I am leaning towards the trellis.

You mentioned getting a completely new ring. That might be an alternative if finances allow. That way you would preserve your heirloom ring.

I don't remember it being uncomfortable. I liked it in the store, but in pics I like the trellis as it looks more substanial on finger......
Now I don't know if I should save thousands of dollars and instead of getting a new diamond and setting, just change mine to something that is 100% perfect for me (?)

P.S. You said you were leaning toward the Trellis setting - would love to hear your opinion of the trellis VS Original
and if u have any other ideas for me pls link me :wavey: :wavey:

Hi Brooke,
Please keep the suggestions coming! That's what I need help with!! :wavey:
I'll check out precision set. I love my diamond and I think it needs a setting that is maybe thicker for my finger (finger is 6.75 )~
Tacori i never liked too much. 2620 is nice... :wink2:

ps : re the Trellis setting, i really like how u can see the diamonds from the profile whereas the graduated is just flat plain metal......

I just looked at your pictures again and I really think the Trellis is very pretty. It looks great on your finger. Maybe you could have the prongs changed to double claw just to make it a little different.
What is holding you back from the Trellis set? Because it seems like it's the one you keep going back to, and if you are actually thinking about it through out the day maybe it's the one??

Did you see anything from the Simone & Son that caught your eye? I think maybe the Precision Set isn't for you seems like those have a low profile after I thought about it.

Keep me posted, it's nice to know someone else out there is having this issue. I don't feel so crazy now, but my friends do. What does your husband have to say about you looking for something new?

Hi Brooke!
That's a great idea about the claw prongs for the trellis ring. I do like it. DH thinks i should get a new setting bec that was my plan when i bought the ring 2 years ago. He is also supportive of me going for a new stone and setting. We shall see!!!
I liked the Simone rings better than Prec. set. I only liked the 2, the halo and the plain one. I think it said "I" colored stones though yet it looked white. I need some jewelry places to see online (with a refund policy!! LOL)! Any more ideas? :wavey:

Have you checked the James Allen site? It seems popular on this site. Also there is a site ShaneCo that I've looked at.

If you have the go ahead for a new diamond and set I would go for it! I think the SK that you posted pictures of are great. Maybe you should take a serious look at them again?
One other thing I was thinking of. Are your rings 14K? Maybe a different metal with some weight to it would help you too. I went from 14k to Platinum. Just a thought.

Good luck
Brooke

Oops, sorry, I should have mentioned it's under the Sneak Peek Newsletter on their site. Just looked again and it's now listed under the Modern and Estate Rings page 2 on the site. It's even prettier in the other pictures. If you sign up for the newsletter you get a look at what's going to be on the site before it get's posted to the public.

Found another site for you to check out (and how about this ring?) , 23rd Street Jewelers.
Take a look at all the stones they have listed under rings not just diamonds, because they are all soooo pretty. Maybe you could find the setting to add your diamond to.

Have you found anything else that you love?

Hey Brooke!!
Thanks for keeping in touch!!! I'm so glad I got to see ur ring!! It's stunning!!!!! I love the details!! Do u have hand pic?
I still don't know if I should get a new diamond or a new setting. Wondering if the 11mm halo would look funny with a 1.2 carat cushion.
My mom thinks the halo ring looks or might look like a "cocktail ring" - I don't want it to look like a cocktail ring. I think she thinks that because the shank is VERY wide and tapers, but not til the bottomish. I can't stand this anymore - i really want to be happy 100$ u know? I mean 100%. I might order the trellis ring and see if it is pretty in person - if not, i can return it. I think it might be stunning in person because vs quality stones, G color.

Don't listen to me, I am already planning on returning the ring I shared with you. :errrr: I can't get over the money it's costing and I can not justify spending even more than I already have. (this is my 3rd set)
In my opinion I would say you would be happy with your diamond in a new setting. From the other thread where you liked a Gabriel set how about if it can be set with your diamond? Also, I don't think a halo would make it look like a cocktail ring, if it's done right. Why not use your diamond and add a halo? I think you are way more confused than me, only cause you have the ring and the diamond to figure out. I all along only have been dealing with the setting. Poor thing, I totally feel for you!

I also seem to really like those antique style heavily engraved old fashioned looking rings. But I wonder if I would be happy with NO diamonds on the side of my diamond.

Jewels by Erica Grace just informed me through their sneek peek email that their Signature Settings are back. I just took a look, there are eight plus a band that matches them.
Check it out you might love one of the settings, they are all so pretty and unique. I am not even sure which one I like the best. :naughty:

Thanks

My vote is for original setting! It's beautiful. :appl:
