So I have the setting I am going with. After much research and hunting I was unable to find the exact Trellis channel I wanted so going with the strait channel I think she will like.

Now time to finalize the diamond selection from B2C. I am looking for around a 1ct princess center, eyeclean, I or better, GIA or comparable. Searching I found these 4

So should I request 10x and idealoscope images for all 4? Any recommendations on which ones to not even consider? They are all within my budget when combined with the setting. I do like the 3rd one I think best due to clarity and ratio but need to see the image I think. Any recommendations are appreciated.

the setting is very nice.. I had a setting very similar to that in yellow gold for my 10th wedding anniversary... I loved it and wish I had never changed it actually... oh well.. I sound like a pumper of B2C but I recently bought a baguette diamond ring from Samuel at B2C and I had the best experience ever buying a ring.. it wasn't nearly as expensive as your diamond and setting, but I felt good with the whole process.. so let the site (me :) know how it goes.. my ring was this: http://www.b2cjewels.com/Ladies-diamond-wedding-bands/Channel-Set-Diamond-Band-Baguette-Accents-14K-White-Gold-7888.aspx

my ring was 575.00$!! and I received a good discount from the company.. funny this.. I thought the ring was awfully cheap.. maybe it is a typo or maybe they are selling lots of them??? now it's 875.00$!!!! I'll take a pix and upload it later...

of course I digress onto ME and my rings..

I have baguette studs and we got them years ago at Blue Nile when Blue Nile was new :) I also have RB studs and I have to say the princess studs are awesome(r).. and my SIL has a gorgeous K colored 2 carat engagement ring, it shows totally white.. Princess is crisp and stunning.. best of luck and sorry to hijack your thread a bit!.

Hi Jamespat, you will need an ASET image to get an idea of performance without seeing the diamond in person. I know there arent a ton of them out there but AGS is the only lab that actually grades the cut of fancies, well at least the only reputable one. If you can find an AGS000 (their reports have an ASET image) it is the way to go IMO especially considering you will not get to see the stone in person before purchase. I also like solasfera princess cuts, but because they are a branded cut they command a price premium which may or may not be worth it to you.

With princess cuts, while it may not be a deciding factor for you, you may want to read a little on this forum about the # of chevrons in the cut as in some cases it will affect the look a bit.

I was hoping to narrow down the selection of diamonds to 2 or 3 and then request from B2C an idealoscope or ASET image (which would be better also?). It appears I may be going about it backwards with the loss of #3 already. I think I may request a few images and then ask opinions here without identifying the specific diamond.

I have not read much on the chevron number effect so I will do that as well.

Anyone here with experience with B2C know if they charge for diamond image requests and how quickly they normally process them through? If I call/chat asking about 3 or 4 diamonds will it be a problem to get images for all of them?

thanks

Re: Which diamonds should I request more info on? Princess ~

Im pretty sure most of their inventory is virtual inventory so they dont have it on hand to create an ASET image. They would have to rely on the owner to create such images which in my experience very few will do. If they can get an ASET for you, they wont charge for it nor would they charge for images. B2C is a discount vendor and with that one of the drawbacks is that they dont have the diamonds on hand to offer advice and ASET images for.

Im not sure if they offer this one, http://www.agslab.com/pdf_sync_reports/104067133001-PLDQR.PDF it looks like a nice SI1 with only a pinpoint in the table and a few feathers around the edges, it faces up larger than the 4 you posted (ill say 3 because I wouldnt suggest going with EGL). It will likely be a little more pricey than the ones you posted I would guess around $3800-4k based on B2C's usual markup.

D_GURU,

Your right very few do, but some vendors carry a good mix, GOG, WF, BGD to name a few but this comes at a higher price seeing as though there is a cost to stocking inventory. That is what is wonderful from a consumer perspective about net-shopping for diamonds, you can pick a vendor that caters to your needs and price threshold.

Re: Which diamonds should I request more info on? Princess ~

I agree those all have inhouse diamonds but they tend not include the extra info like ASET, IS, Sarin Scan, OGI fire trace ect, which in the context of this tread regarding princesses would all have been very useful. I didnt mean to single any out, I just provided examples of companies I feel offer alot of added and IMO userful information on fancy cuts.

Re: Which diamonds should I request more info on? Princess ~

If you use the PS search and select "in house" then the ones B2C lists as in house will already have a picture, and scan generated IS and ASET.

It is pointless trying to request pictures from B2C after finding something that has some table and depth that is deemed favorable. Firstly, trying to select some with "good" table and depth still does not give you a very good shot at something decent. Secondly, B2C pictures are usually not very good.

Hmm sad to know about B2C, may mean I go with JA as they appear to have more in house options and still viable settings within my price range. And yea now that I did more reading on ASET images it really has shown me the table/depth don't mean as much as I thought. Definitely need a 10x and a ASET, 40X will also be nice. We will see what JA can do for me. Will be posting a few ASETs when I get them.

Re: Which diamonds should I request more info on? Princess ~

It's not sad, I already posted an amazing looking 1 ct H well within your budget. Ask B2C if it is eye clean.

Re: Which diamonds should I request more info on? Princess ~

Wondering what peoples thoughts are for this selection. Hopefully the format stays consistent.

Diamond 1: 1_169.jpg

Diamond 2: 2_122.jpg

Diamond 3: 3_103.jpg

Diamond 4: 4_50.jpg

Diamond 5: 5_44.jpg

From what little I have read and studied ASET images from here, Diamond 4 appears to be a nice image followed by 1, 3, 2, and 5. Does this seem correct? Any thoughts?

thanks

Went with your suggestion JulieN, it looks nice, B2C confirmed eye clean, and it fit the budget perfectly. Thank you very much. Will post pictures when I get it :)

Re: Which diamonds should I request more info on? Princess ~

Nice, I like the small table on that one.

Re: Which diamonds should I request more info on? Princess ~

So the ring arrived after only minimal issues. Diamond looked good as did the setting. The gf loved it and is now officially fiance. Just like to say thanks to everyone here, I officially know more about diamonds (princess cut at least) than I ever thought I would but in the end very much worth it. Here are two pictures, nothing amazing setup wise but very happy with it.

thanks again
