I have a 1.0ct RB from WF going into a platinum Leo Ingwer ring.

Anyways, thanks to the events described here, I need to find a local jeweler to mount the stone. I was wondering if there''s anyplace in the Dayton, OH area that people can recommend, or what chain stores have good reputations when it comes to mounting?

Oh yah, plus there''s a time constraint, so the faster the better :)

well, you might call around stores in your local area and see if any of the will mount it. some stores won''t mount a stone you didn''t buy from them into a setting you didn''t buy from them. also, you''ll want to make sure whomever is mounting your stone will take responsibilty for it if it''s gets chipped during the process (not likely, but possible). i''d recommend sending the setting to WF and having them set your stone in it if possible but seems like you''re in a hurry so that might not work.

Ditto sending to to WF to mount.

I think I''ll just take it to Helzberg and have them do it. They''re inexpensive and can do it within the timeframe I need. I''d love to send it to WF except for all the various S&H fees and the extra time, but I''ll just take the (hopefully really really really small risk) of the setter damaging the diamond and not guaranteeing its safety.

That is, unless anybody can think of any objections to taking it there over another jewelry store...?

I would personally want WF to set the stone. I trus them completely and I would want them to take responsibility for the stone in case something happened (rare though). They can take your Ingwer setting and set your WF diamond into it without a problem. Shipping is a little bit of a hassle, but not a huge deal.

Just some information as I was in the same position...my local jeweler would not take responsibility for damage while setting the stone and I did not want to wait for GOG to send to Tacori...so, I decided to insure the stone & mounting with jeweler''s mutual prior to setting, only cost me about $278 for the year. From what I understand, JM is one of very few companies that will insure the stone & ring prior to setting...I wouldn''t take the chance b/c you might kick yourself later ;)
