I found this video today from last year when I got my stone (Ella). My initial thought was that it looked like the light went into the stone and bounced around knocking “hey, let me out”

I’m holding an uncertified earring in the video. I took it to show a friend the importance of cut because at the time they thought I was “crazy” and “all diamonds sparkle the same.”

That contrast is crazy! Ella is a super ideal?

Great video.

Would be awesome to have specs on both diamonds. Many people coming here question if all the nitpicky details really matter. I think so.

I agree. I don’t want to be “unfair” by not posting the numbers but I firmly believe that there isn’t a “perfect” diamond and the second someone points something out it would bother me even though it shouldn’t. I will say that it’s a xxx and I looked at many xxx’s right next to each other (many that scored much better on the HCA) but at first glance I said “that one.” It really does help when you have 5+ stones of the same color and clarity to compare.

All I know about the earring is that’s its a .76 g vs2 and by itself it really doesn’t look bad! I brought it with me when I got Ella, and let’s just say it didn’t compare well to the whole family of stones

There's no substitute for seeing a diamond in person. Very important to remember for people ordering diamonds online, and why a good return policy is essential. Numbers and geometry are a great way to filter diamonds when searching sight unseen, but IMO, every diamond ordered online should be compared against several other well cut diamonds from a local jeweler while still within the return period to confirm that you've found "the one." :)
