oooo what a fun thread! i''m a bartender so this is right up my alley! i prefer "fruity" cocktails, and i love flavored vodkas but every once in a while, i can''t resist a filthy dirty vodka martini with blue cheese stuffed olives and a good spicy bloody mary.

here are a few recipes i got from some bartender buddies and are my current favorites for the spring/summer season:

Lychee Martini

1 and 1/2 oz SOHO brand lychee liqueur
1 oz preferred vodka
1 can of lychees in syrup

-combine lychee liqueur, vodka and a dash or two of syrup from the can of lychees in shaker with ice
-shake well and strain into cocktail glass and garnish with a lychee or two from the can

Raspberry Lychee Mojito
(recipe makes for about 8 servings which is great for summertime bbqs!)

24 lychees from can
1/2 cup of fresh or thawed frozen raspberries
2 limes cut into 8 wedges
1 large bunch of fresh mint leaves
8 tbsp of superfine sugar
about 2 large handfuls of ice plus extra for serving
1 cup of preferred white rum
1 L of seltzer water or club soda

-chill 8 Collins glasses
-add mint leaves, raspberries, lychees, lime wedges and sugar in a large glass measuring cup or bowl and muddle together
-add ice and rum then slowly pour in seltzer water/club soda and stir well
-add two or three ice cubes into each glass. pour in mojito mixture and top off with some mint leaves

Blueberry Watermelon

1 and 1/2 oz Stoli blueberry vodka
1 oz watermelon syrup (Monin or Dekuyper brands work well)
2 oz of fresh or preferred brand of lemonade
1 oz preferred brand of sparkling wine
fresh blueberries (optional)

-rim Collins glass with superfine sugar and add ice
-shake together all ingredients except for sparkling wine and blueberries
-pour into glass and top off with sparkling wine and garnish with blueberries

I have recently found a love for vodka and tonics. I have been thinking I may add a splash of grapefruit instead of the traditional lime and see what that''s like.
I thought I''d post my white sangria recipe for you guys since I am always asked to bring it to parties, dinners, etc.
It is on the sweet side so if you''d like it less sweet, swap out the gingerale for club soda.

White Sangria
1 750ml bottle of chardonnay (we usually use yellow tail)
1 can of frozen lemonade concentrate
1 med. size can of chunk pineapple in natural juice
1 med. size can of sliced peaches in light syrup or juice
1/2 cup rum
1/2 cup triple sec
1 2 liter bottle of gingerale

mix first 6 ingredients and chill for at least 4 hours. Add soda right before serving.
Enjoy!
