I love that color!!! What dye do you use?
Manic Panic Amplified Ultra Violet. Done at the hairdressers - this stuff stains! It’s only a semi but I have streak highlights put in first then the colour all over. The colour fades out over about 12 washes but the highlights stay more purple longer so it’s still a lovely look even after 2 months.
My hair is a medium brunette.

I used to use Manic Panic, awesome colors but the staining is a pain when the hair was wet/damp. When I had purple hair I used Pravana dye and it was even worse, it would stain my clothes when dry and waking up in the morning my face and neck would be purple. I wish someone would make permanent colored dyes......

You have pretty hair and a sweet face!

I wish I had thick, straight, shiny hair.

Instead I have:
thin, curly (like shirley temple tight coils) that's prone to frizzing and not always shiny hair. lol!

I dye my hair a chestnut color, which looks best on me. Lately I wear my hair in 2 french braids when I don't feel like dealing with my curls or washing it lol

As a fellow Curly girl have you tried Curly Girl Method? Ive been doing it since 12/4/18 and OMG my hair is so much nicer than it was and my curls are finally getting back to how they use to be in highschool.

When my hair grows up, it wants to be like my friend @KKJohnson's hair. I wasn't sure if she was ok with me posting a photo here. But trust me, it's gorgeous, natural curls!!

haha thank you! I am very happy how my curls are starting to look after so many years of stringy hair. If you ever want to a deep condish or a protein treatment you can always come over to the house

My dream hair color...I’ve never wanted unnatural colors but I’ve been a blonde, redhead, and my natural brunette. EVERYONE and their mamma loves me as a blonde. If the blonde wouldn’t turn brassy I would have loved to have kept it but it never stays that salon gorgeous color. Right now this years self care New Years resolution was to have healthy curls which mean minimum heat and no coloring!

No point in me putting up a recent picture of my curls on here, as you’ve ALL seen the recent disasterous short cut! Thankfully it’s starting to lie a bit better & is less sticky out, antennae like.

Dream hair would be much, much thicker & longer, like it looked a few years ago. Here is a slightly fatter me 7 years ago when my youngest was a baby. I had lovely golden highlights & really liked it. Grainy photo warning!

This is from December to just this past weekend! I got a better haircut (the length didn’t change, I didn’t sweep it to the front so it’s behind my shoulder) and I changed every hair product I was using! Ridiculous how much it’s changed so much, I’m telling you Curly Girl Method...it is almost as addicting as jewelry lol

I had some CRAZY hair in high school then I killed my curls

And because this is a jewelry forum I’m going to include the bling pic lol

Your hair looks great! If I collected pictures of myself over the years, I expect I have had all of those curly looks too, from flat, to super thick, to frizzy, to fluffy, to ringlets etc! Curly hair has a life of its own!

I think I'm going to go for it and ask my stylist (on the 26th) to do this cut--maybe a bit longer than the blond example, but this style)

Which colors do you ladies think would work best? The blue/purple like pics 1 and 3, or the red/purple like pic 2? Or another "hidden" color?

Hoping that when my hair is down it'll look like this (in terms of color visibility).

And then color underneath the top layer :)

Love this! You must post pictures if you get it done! As for the colours I like both, but think the red tone is more subtle than the blue, so it depends what look you’re aiming for & how brave you feel.

@lovedogs, it has always been a hair dream of mine to add blue to my hair. A vibrant beautiful blue/purple. I just am crazy about these colors for hair especially if one has the right skin tone that will go well with these colors. So if you are up for it that would be my vote. I think you could totally rock the blue purple though I am also certain whatever colors you decide on and whatever hair style you choose will be beautiful on you.

@KKJohnson, Gorgeous! Gorgeous hair and gorgeous face.
As an aside I have done the curly girl method and I found I had to shampoo my hair. I always use no sulfates etc in my products but conditioner wasn't enough for my thin hair and I needed the shampoo too. But you are rocking it and your hair is TDF beautiful.

I was blonde for years, I know all about the purple shampoo. Unfortunately it is harsh on the hair and when coupled with bleaching the hair just gets damaged too much, I was even one of those who religiously had deep conditioning treatments and my hair just ended so damaged. Very glad I went back brunette.

I'll go first. If I could pick any color it would be an icy white cool blonde as I just love that color and always have. With my dark bio hair it was impossible because my hair was too thin and fragile to be totally bleached of the dark brown color it used to be.

And I love shoulder length wavy non frizzy hair. Either shorter in back and longer on the sides (Lob) or all over same length about 16". My dream hair.

Some examples.

Would love to see examples of your dream hair...and even better if your hair is your dream hair please share with us!

calling @Matata... your hair is dreamy.

I have this! I would say it’s my dream color. I’ve had white blonde/platinum hair for the past 5 years at least. I do variations on it sometimes, often going for the more “rooty” look, but my sweet spot is all over white blonde from root to tip. My natural color is some shade of brown and I have to say it’s a pain in the butt to upkeep this but oh so worth it!

My answer is: my own hair up until my early 30s.

I used to LOVE my hair - in my younger years, I had naturally very thick, chestnut/auburn colored hair, that got natural blonde highlights in the sun and dried perfectly without any blowdryer. It also held curl well if I wanted to wear it curled or wavy, and it was long - jut below my bra strap.

I took it all for granted, and never knew what a pain in the A$$ unruly hair is. My friends always told me, but I never really understood. Fast forward to my 30s - it became curly, frizzy, and unmanageable without heat treatment - I was at a LOSS for what to do with it. I don't even think I owned a hair product of any kind! Now I have more products than I care to admit, and half of them don't work at all. I still like my hair; now I wear it curly sometimes or I blow it dry (but that takes at least a half hour). But it really is true what they say: youth is wasted on the young.

I'm attaching a picture of me and my mom - I think I was about 20 in this picture and at that time, I didn't even own a blow dryer. My friends hated me and now I know why. The second picture was taken a few weeks ago with my dog on the beach (age 42) - au natural crazy hair. I spend most of my time and money at the salon trying to recreate both the texture and the color of my younger hair - lol 20045300_10213699880559714_7330664557151430800_o.jpg 50673339_10218321551098589_8143280206786854912_o.jpg

What a fun thread!!!! I've been doing the Curly Girl method since August and have seen some drastic changes in my hair. I permed for years to get a nice beachy wave, ANYTHING other than my stick straight mess that I *thought* I had. The CGM has revealed some really nice waves. My hair isn't near what I want, but so much better than it was!

I LOVE her curl patterns, but I want it shorter and I'd love it to be a red color. I'm not sure if I want to deal with longer. I am considering growing mine out a bit longer than I have now:
29714707_203533870239671_3409240302492319744_n.jpg

And her curls (her color is close to my natural color, mine's a bit darker):

LOVE This (the one on the RIGHT, I can't figure out how to crop)
upload_2019-2-20_11-54-20.png

This was my hair a week after I permed it and started the CGM:

Thank you! I’ve learned to embrace it. It looks good in the winter, but the summertime...girl, that’s a whole different animal

Thank you @ceg - that is so nice! The funny part about curly hair, is that one day it's really pretty....and the next day....it's in a bun for sure...or under a hat .

It took me a long ways to get here, but I have my dream hairstyle and color. If I had a magic wand, I’d just ask for my hair to grow out this color so I don’t need to touch it up. And for my hair to be thicker and healthier.

I love the root melt at the roots to blend in when my hair grows in. And I love the low lights to keep it well blended as well. I only need to touch up my hair every 5-6 months. 011E9ABF-4ED2-42CA-924F-DFEB3055FB67.jpeg
