Pick up your ring or make a flight?
Husband and I were heading to Vegas on Friday afternoon at 3:00 pm. He really wanted to give me my ring on this trip but the jeweler could not promise a due date. BTW, he saw the wax a few weeks ago and was just thrilled with the ring. Anyway, we were airport bound and the call came in, "your ring is ready." We just looked at each other, looked at the clock and knew that we weren''t going to make the flight if we went downtown (SF) to pick up the ring. He even called to see if the flight was delayed and it was still showing on time. We got to the airport only to find out that our flight was an hour delayed! I was so bummed I wanted to cry
. Oh well, Vegas was fabulous, did a little shopping, ate too much, drank too much and I almost caved and bought a Hermes Birkin but it was in purple, couldn''t do it. I love Vegas, can''t wait to go back in January. We stayed at the Bellagio but found ourselves spending a lot more time at Ceasars, which has the best shopping.
The ring is going to have to wait a week. When we landed this afternoon, husband caught a flight to New York for a conference. He said I could go pick it up, but I am going to wait until he comes home this weekend. Trust me, patience is not a virtue of mine. I might have to go look at it .
Two funny things did happen. On Saturday night hubby and I went back to the Hotel after a yummy dinner at Nobu. We changed into comfy clothes which for me was a pair of juicy sweats and a henley. The only shoes I packed were too high and too formal so I went to the casino bairfooted. David got a call so I went down by myself and sat at the bar and waited for him. A guy sat at the stool next to me and we just started to talk, he works for Janet Jackson but is doing something for Kenny G. He bought me a drink and a shot and we started to talk. He noticed that I was bair foot and he said, "come on, lets go for a walk." I told him that I was waiting for my husband and that he should be here in a minute. He said, "I want to take you to Chanel and buy you a bair of shoes." I looked at him and said, "are you crazy?" He smiled and said, "I''m serious, you can''t be strolling the Bellagio bairfoot, let''s go, it will only take a minute." Needless to say I didn''t go with him and he soon took off.
I then ventured over to the craps table (bairfoot) and this guy started to win big. Soon everyone started to crowd this one table and he started asking me to roll the dice, blow on them etc...well I wanted to leave after 15 minutes and he said, "you can''t leave. I have been on a roll since you joined the table, you can''t leave now." Sure enough, this guy starts winning and we are soon joined by "management" of Bellagio. About 25 minutes pass and I just want to leave so I tell him that I''m leaving. He said okay, let me cash out and at least buy you a drink. I tell him that I don''t need a drink and congratulate him on a successful table. The cashier tells him, "not a bad 45 minutes Chris...$4,500." I ask him what he does and he says, "I''m a professional poker player." I go back to the bar and wait for my husband and he sends over a glass of champagne which was very nice.
When I connect with my husband one hour later I tell him what happens and all he can say is, "you turned down a pair of shoes?"
I love Las Vegas.
