What would you do?

Soooo....I bought a new AVC from GOG because it fit the specs I had been looking for which were approx .75-1ct, + fluoro, AVC, right price, good specs, doesn't have the same shape as my other one. But now I am having a tough time finding the right setting. I bought it for a RHR and after many (waaaayyyyy too many) hours of searching for the right setting, I've finally decided to do what I should have done in the first place - ask for help from PSers.

My only real sticking points are that I don't want it to look TOO engagement ring-ish and I would like it to have some component of rose gold. I did inquire about a setting from DBL because my husband was in love with it (this one: http://www.diamondsbylauren.com/index.php/jewelry/loose-colorless-diamond-62ct-j-si1-cushion-cut-gia-fantastic-sparkle-r4916) but they do not accept outside stones for their settings.

So,I guess my 2cent (or maybe a 1.05) with how to make a good RHR is:
-Choose a setting with a low profile
-Choose a setting that provides a lot of finger coverage--like a 3stone or a 5 stone ring
-Incorporate colored gemstones or a setting that has a lot of design components with the metal itself

Your husband has great taste! I remember GOG do a delicious rose gold halo that they posted on their FB. I'm no help....lol...

Why don't you show GOG the picture from DBL and ask them how much it would cost to do that halo, and while you are at it get a quote from ERD as well. I like the cushion shaped halo in either white or pink the best!!!!

@briolette - great find!! i love that setting - thanks so much for that link! (and if camillerose is reading - i love your setting ) i just briefly looked at the MaeVona website and their settings are fantastic. i will definitely be checking them out with DH when he gets home. also, i agree with everything you said. one setting i really liked for a 3 stone was this one by WF: http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/three-stone/3-stone-butterflies-diamond-engagement-ring-230.htm.... i like it because i think it would go well with my ering but i don't think i can do 6 prongs with this stone.

@pintobean - thanks! DH does have great taste - i feel so lucky to have found a man who is not only REALLY awesome but also REALLY loves diamonds like i do.

@arkieb1 - you are right, i definitely should do that. the only reason i didn't do that right away was because i was actually trying to avoid the cost of doing something custom. but i guess it doesn't hurt to at least ask!

All these would be cute modified to your cushion I thought think. And rose gold.(though maybe not the halos. Though if you changed it to green instead of rubies that would be very cool.

Simon G makes some "right hand looking" rings with rose gold elements. I'm not sure how they work in terms of providing your own stone but there are a few retailers in the GOG area. Good luck with your search.

I like Simon G and Beverley K for vintage style settings for right hand rings. I think you have to have a halo for the ring to balance with your gorgeous e-ring (and I am biased in my love for your e-ring!), so something like this but made in cushion shape would be nice.

Plus, GOG carries BK, which is good. And you can choose whatever metal you want, too.

@ bluu76 - so funny you mentioned simon G because i just got a catalog from a local jeweler and was eying up some of those settings. i do really like them and will be checking out their full website today now that i have a day off

@ diamondseeker2006 - you are so sweet! thank you! we must have very similar taste because i absolutely love that setting from beverly K! i can't even believe i totally forgot about beverly K in my search (doh!). i wonder if there is a way to get a side profile view...i'll have to email GOG.
