What won't/ don't you eat on this list?

My sister purchased a beef half. Amongst the packages was a package of tongue. Grossed out by thought of peeling it, she gave it to her lab to eat. He was unable to eat it but happily ran around the yard with his "tongue" hanging out. :lol-2:

Pictures? lol

@TheGarnetGirl,
I was born and raised in PA, but have lived in NM for 19 years.
Raised by second generation Italians and Syrians, we didn't eat spicy food.
I still don't like the chile. Don't like red or green. Too hot!
People here look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them that I don't like green chile.

How about breaded and deep fried? I love them that way! :))

And have you ever had smoked oysters on crackers at a cocktail party? I think they are great even out of a can. I prefer them on buttered crackers, though!
I can do fried! Smoked meat of any kind, except liver, is great.

I've had everything on the list and will pretty much eat it all... I don't really care for beets, snails, or liver -- unless it's foie gras -- then I'm all over it! ;)

6 items for me. I also won't eat lima beans or cilantro. Cilantro is a vile weed that I find hiding in salads and prepared dishes.

I have eaten/would eat everything on the list. However, event though I will eat grapefruit alone (not often mind you) I'll pass on mixed fruit that has grapefruit in it. It's overpowering and makes everything taste like grapefruit.

Two fruits I cannot stand that everyone seems to love are cantaloupe and honey dew melon. I want to like cantaloupe, it looks delicious. Tastes like soap to me. I can tolerate watermelon but rarely eat it. It has the taste and texture of styrofoam soaked in sugar water.

Honeydew and cantaloupe (and watermelon for that matter) are tricky. I HATE them from the store for the reasons you mentioned. Fresh ones though... So delicious. I drive several hours over the mountain to get them fresh in season. Cantaloupe had to be the heirloom type. Regular ones taste like soap.

I have rosacea too. And eczema and Hashimoto's and hypothyroidism and some other (and very weird and rare) autoimmune diseases so I started an AIP diet last Spring. It's basically an elimination diet and you can add some things back over time. I know for sure dairy causes me GI upset and also causes my face to flare re rosacea as does alcohol. So those I cannot add back. I also do not eat legumes or nuts anymore (miss this as I was a vegan and now cannot be or I would not get any protein). Also no soy, no gluten as those are very inflammatory for those of us with AI diseases. It's a long list but here is a link that I hope you find helpful. Chocolate and caffeine can be inflammatory too depending on your reaction so you might want to just try an elimination and see how it goes. It is challenging at first but gets much easier as time goes by.

Good luck and I am here for you if I can be of any help.

Thanks, I took a look at the webpage and found it quite lucid. I am trying to avoid cutting everything out as I am so tired already (a major factor in triggering this was the birth of my daughter last year, and the resulting long term loss of -- the vast majority of my -- sleep). I am just trying to reclaim my work and re-establish myself this year, while still having one hand effectively tied behind my back. I am not sure I have the energy to go on an elimination diet as well. But I will try whittling out some of these food groups one at a time and see how I go.

Honeydew is filler and a completely disgusting, worthless fruit. Any establishment serving it regularly ought to be shamed, and often.

Congrats on the birth of your daughter last year. I cannot even imagine how sleep deprived you must be. Though I too suffer from sleep issues and I do know how that can impact one's health for the negative.

You might find an amazing amount of energy if you eliminate those foods that cause an inflammatory reaction within your body. It's daunting at first I know to eliminate much of the food choices you love and enjoy but if you take the mindset it is just for a hurt amount of time and break it up day by day it is very manageable. Start with the major offenders. Gluten, soy and dairy and see how it goes. I really hope it helps you feel so much better and then it won't seem a sacrifice.

Also and I do not know your specifics so please keep that in mind but look into LDN. Low Dose Naltrexone. I started taking this last Spring/Summer and it can be helpful for AI diseases and other conditions. Not a cure all and does not work for everyone but a very safe drug. Low risk profile. And has shown to be helpful to quite a number of people. There is no research indicating risk with this med that I know of. Research it and see what you think. It is worth reading about. And it can help with sleep too.

Good luck and let me know how you are doing.

I'm not a fan of Nutella or overly sweet things, but I'd eat everything on the list. Especially if someone else prepares it for me  Then I'll happily eat anything!

4 things:
liver
tomatoes (I do eat tomato sauce, though)
snails
sourdough bread (I know, sacrilege!)

Oh! LDN! My husband got that for me last year and I took it for a few months. I think it helped but I hadn’t really looked into it and was concerned it might have side effects so I stopped. My goal with it was to feel less fatigued. Please do tell me more about your experience with it (if you wish).

hmm, I eat all those things. That's a pretty tame list. I mean, I grew up eating magirista soup after midnight service on Easter... There are some things I don't like as much as other things, but nothing I would have to avoid or pick out (I like almost all vegetables). If I had to say, the thing I am most picky about are overly fatty, gristle -like pieces of meat or flabby chicken skin. Thankfully my older daughter actually likes those kinds of pieces (especially the fat)

I’m happy to share if it could help you. I started at 1.5 mg and worked my way to to 4.5 mg which is where I have been for over 6 months now. My TPOs and TgAbs have gone down (Hashimoto’s) though I am still very hypothyroid. It’s not an immediate fix rather over time it could help one’s immune system to reset.

There is so much to read out there on LDN and it has a very safe risk profile. If you didn’t experience negative side effects I’d recommend giving it more of a chance. I plan on staying on it for at least another year if I don’t experience any negative effects. It could give you vivid dreams but I haven’t experienced that.

Most take it an hour before bed but some find it more helpful to take it in the AM. It makes me sleepy so I take it at 9pm every night. HTH and please ask anything you want. I’m learning myself but if I could help you it’s my pleasure.

Thanks! I’ll probably contact you on IG so as to not spill my health issues here. ;)2 I hear it’s supposed to work very well for Hashimoto’s.

@stracci2000 your thing about chillies is interesting as a bunch of my close friends and my husband are all from Hong Kong and not used to heat spice either. They are total wusses when it comes to chilli! However one girl out of our group grew up with a korean bestie and was trained to eat chillies at the bestie's house since she was young. She can eat spice!!!!! We had Vietnamese spicy soup one weekend (Bun Bo Hue) and she was the only person who ate the "normal" version along with me. We laughed at the "Honky" wusses who had to eat a chilli free version! Not even a hint of spice!

@partgypsy agree that is a pretty tame list which makes it more interesting to see what every does or doesn't eat when it comes to such mundane foods.

Very ripe honeydew and rockmelon smell a bit like petrol to me! My kid likes the crunchy ripe ones we have here. Sweet but kind of crunchy as opposed to that watery soft texture.

Thank you. I have actually been thinking about it and I can probably eliminate dairy and gluten without too many problems. As they only really sneak into my current diet through chocolate and coffee drinks (I live in Asia and somehow we eat a mix of chinese, japanese, vietnamese, thai, korean, phillipino and arabic and the more I think about it the more I realize these dishes don't really contain gluten or dairy. So it is just my sweet tooth and coffee dependencies which are letting me down.) I will see if I can slowly eliminate them.

The soy I am stuck with, as I take large amounts of lecithin for recurrent blocked ducts. But it isn't for forever, so that isnt a irresolvable issue. I am desperate to nab all the energy I can possibly get, so I have plenty of incentive :lol-2:.

I must be picky because I have 14 things on there I don't eat!

I didn't see cilantro, but that is my least favorite! YUCK. I can't eat cucumbers (they taste like soap), Nutella is delicious but terrible for me so I abstain, I don't like the texture of grapes...

I still enjoy beef tacos, but I eat less and less meat now that I'm older. I'm finding a lot of vegan options are delicious when I'm looking for a meat substitute.

Cilantro tastes like soap to me. I absolutely loathe it. It’s genetic if one likes or dislikes it. I think few people are in between. You either love it or hate it. I think.

Yup, like metallic soap. Ewwww.

I've eaten everything on that list. The worst is raisins. hate them. avoid avoid avoid them at all costs.
I'm not partial to milk but I love coffee and need the milk to make it easier on my tummy (I only take skim)

But I don't like ice cream so, there is that.

The rest, like mayonnise , celery, crab, pickles, grapes, are basic avoids I don't eat them out of habit but if its in there and I'm too lazy I won't pick them out.

And funny, don't like grapes, really love wine:lol:

Liver, eggplant, and snail. Although strangely enough, I will put snail mucin on my face. :lol-2:

I thought of something - I'm not a fan of dried tomatoes (too sweet) with a weird off flavor. Like almost every other form of tomato.

Also while I like most any foods individually, I don't like dishes where there are too many contrasting or clashing flavors/textures etc. You know the trying to clean out the fridge and throwing various vegetables and items? Do not like that kind of "discovery" meal.

I didn’t read all the replies but am wondering why this list or why the foods on this list in particular? Maybe I missed it and apologize if I did.

I have eaten and will continue to eat all the things on this list. The only 3 things that I have tried and still CANNOT hold down are Sea cucumber, durian and Nato (fermented slimy soy bean)

I can't do nato or sea cucumber either.

I do wonder if the love of cilantro (coriander for us Aussies) is genetic. Hubs and I adore coriander. The little one used to chew on it as a distraction when we went out to restaurants. One of his favourite baby purees was corn, chicken, carrot and coriander congee with a tonne of coriander root in the stock and coriander leaves blitzed into the mix.

***

Regarding textures: I find it quite funny how some restaurants try to get smart and add random things in for texture. I remember going out and eating this lovely salmon and cuttlefish dish. It was delicious but it had these terribad bits of puffed wheat scattered all over the food and it was so odd tasting. Every so often you'd get a wheat crunch. We scraped it all off.
