Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! I hope everyone has a wonderful not too stressful day with the family or friends, or wherever you are. I have a lot to be thankful for this year. I have a wonderful Hubby-to-be (I find the word 'fiance' super awkward for some reason...anyway), a beautiful new engagement ring, and the cutest new puppy. I am also thankful for my parents and future family-in-law (not sure what to call them...) and of course my supportive and loving friends!
Ok, now that my Thanksgiving rant is over... I currently have a "problem"... well its not really a problem I guess...but it is a bit of a dilemma for me. Its a good dilemma though!
I currently have a 3.6 ct RB that is set in an extremely large/flashy setting, that I uses as my Right hand ring. I was fine with its large/flashy-borderline-gaudy appearance before when I didnt have an engagement ring because it was usually the only ring I wore. However, now that I wear my engagement ring every day... I find that my big-ol-honker of a ring is just sitting there untouched. The diamond is just so beautiful I find it a shame to just let it sit there... but I cant wear it with my ering because (1) the looks totally clash when worn together, because my ering is also a pretty big and bold ring, and (2) the setting is just so overpowering that I feel like my ering is no longer the center focus (which I feel it should be).
So I have three ideas:
(1) I could set the RB into a 3-stone or a 5-stone and wear it as a RHR for evening wear or when I feel like dressing up... But I am not sure if this would work...or if the RHR would still overpower my e-ring. Do any of you ladies have RHR where the Diamond is larger than your ering? The reason I think a 3 or 5 stone is because it is still a simple classy setting for the diamond, and I feel the look wont clash with my e-ring.
(2) Set it into a solitaire, take the diamonds out of the setting and make it into bands to stack with it and wear as a RHR... but does a solitaire feel to E-ringy for a RHR
(3) I could set it into a classic pendant and get a dbty necklace to wear with it. I am also liking this idea, but my only concern is... I guess I would be a little nervous wearing that large of stone on my neck... what if it falls off or the clasp comes loose ... it seems to happen to my mom ALL THE TIME.
Can a jeweler make a necklace that maybe has a double securing system? I dont even know if that exists, I dont currently have a necklace/pendant combo that I love to wear so not sure how that works. Also, while I love wearing blingy jewelry, does anyone think this would be too large for a pendant?
I would love to hear some input and opinions and what you guys think I should do...
