What I would do is make it into a pendant... and get a DBTY chain but also a plain chain for daily wear, like a snake chain. I have issues with absent-mindedly tugging on necklaces and I've never broken a snake chain, and if you had the redundant clasps that would probably be even more secure. And then you can pop it on the DBTY for dressier occasions, but also just wear the DBTY on its own... that's at least three different looks right there.
