I’m on the road
Stay safe dear one.
I’m on the road
The World Rugby body has recently banned transwomen from elite rugby competitions because of the heightened risk of injury to cis athletes in contact sport. In areas such as this and women’s boxing, I do think I agree with their decision from a safety view. Non-contact sports are a different issue.

World Rugby bans trans women from elite women’s game due to injury risks
Trans women will not be permitted to play elite women’s rugby due to ‘significant’ safety concerns, World Rugby has stated after releasing new guidelines for transgender playerswww.google.com
Martina Navratilova recorded a documentary for the BBC about this issue a couple of years ago. It’s not currently available on iplayer unfortunately. She has firm views that trans women should not be allowed to compete as women but I don’t remember the documentary appearing biased in its research. The science was hugely complicated and is developing all the time; hopefully we’ll reach a stage where everyone who wants to can compete on a basis they consider fair.
I can see why this would be so in rugby
Even though a lot of our elite players are fine stapping lasses
Rugby players have got so big this generation
Ive always felt for the smaller age group player up aganist much bigger players
Yes, there’s a similar debate in the U.K. at the moment about school rugby and whether competitions should be banded by size rather than age because of injury risks. Doing so would seem much more sensible from a safety point of view, but would render school competitions impossible as every year group would need to have games in the same lesson, which would be physically and logistically impossible!
@Daisys and Diamonds I was going to like your post but it didn’t seem the appropriate response. I hope your cousin is okay. I was happy with my two playing rugby while they were in tag rugby age groups. I really don’t like the contact variety for over-enthusiastic and under-technical children...
