mia - I''m not quite sure where you got that considering Beyonce was smiling the entire time.
I agree with Mia. I''m not a Beyonce fan, but I could she that she was shocked by what he was doing. She also made a ''knock it off'' type motion with her hands. I''m glad Taylor finished her speech, whether it was due to MTV''s intervention or not. Either way, they both got screwed over.

I loved how in Kanye''s apology he brought up that he gave an award he won to Outkast because he felt they deserved it more, so Taylor should do the same.

I seriously can''t stand the man. I''m glad MTV kicked him out.

Call me a cynic but I think this incident stinks of a P.R. stunt.

I did not see it myself and refuse to waste 5 mins of my life downloading it so can somebody please tell me, was he presenting the award? How was he on stage?

Kanye West is pathetic! He seems like a very angry person.

Here is a picture of him on the red carpet last night at the VMA''s with a bottle of alcohol. He has no class!

And what is his gf wearing??

I feel terrible for Taylor and Beyonce. Taylor''s moment was clearly ruined but so was Beyonce''s. And now Beyone has people like dragonfly claiming she enjoyed it. I''m sure BOTH women are absolutely furious with him. His ego is out of control.

No, he wasn''t presenting the award. He just jumped on stage out of the audience.

Kanye likes to run his mouth... he likes the attention. It was totally rude, and his apology wasn''t very sincere.

I wanna know - where was the security? I can''t believe he actually got up to the stage! Taylor looked shocked. I agree, Gaga or Pink would have totally let him have it!

Sha - I think she''s a good artist in that she sings well, and performs well, and she''s the type of person I like to see in our industry... I tend to like more ..... poetic? music... if that makes sense. I.E. I like Dave Matthews, Foo Fighters, a lot of country music (long trip alone for instance, one of my favorites), and even some of Kelly Clarkson and what not. I like things that tell a story, and do so in a unique way, and sometimes feel that some of the new mainstream tends to be repetitive (which is not the artist''s fault considering most of them aren''t writing it). Didn''t mean for it to be negative towards her, as I like HER as a person and I think she is talented and a good singer.

I do still feel though that she looked stunned yes, but the smiling bothered me for some reason. Meanwhile the rest of us had appalled and pissed looks if you know what I mean?

I think it is P.R. because celebrity himself, or not, I do not believe he would be able to storm the stage. I imagine security would stop such an outburst for fear of liability. So my thought is that it is a stunt by the award show and Taylor Swift's, Kanye and possibly Beyonce's P.R. jointly or severally.

i jsut saw the clip and her smile did look weird. i think that others reactions (the anger, hurt faces) was just so profound, that seeing an akward smile (beyonce''s) does look off. No doubt she was just a furious (i loved her little speach during her award) though.

ALthough Perez is not the most reputable person, this is to add to that

not only was he holding it, he was drinking it before the awards!
Pictures of Kanye

He disgusts me. I have seen him in person and he was 3 hours late and never said one thing to us in the crowd, and walked off after 45 min (each set was 1.5 hours). I literally despise him.

My kids love Taylor''s music and even though I was not a fan of Beyonce(although I enjoy her music), after watching her act so graciously, I think I may be a new fan! And she literally gave her speech time ALL to Taylor. Some artists would have still "received" their award after Taylor spoke, but I thought it was a sweet moment.

Lady Gaga however ?????????????????????????????????

I wonder where his arrogance and "holier than thou" attitude comes from?

He has to be the most arrogant person I have ever seen!

For those of you calling it a PR stunt, I would be a lot more likely to believe it if it wasn't for the fact that Kanye has done this at SO many award shows. He has thrown fits at almost every show he was invited to where he didn't win - the different was that this time he was trying to push Beyonce's work, and I think it had a lot more to do with skin color (for him) than talent, because both Beyonce and Taylor Swift have talent by the boatload.

Also, watch the clip - there isn't security near the stage because that stage has only celebs around it, not fans. So they don't think they need it most of the time, and you can see in the clip that security was nowhere near. At least they kicked him out afterward.

Kanye has good songs, but it has less to do with talent than it has to do with good writers. Have you ever seen him live? He SUCKS. His voice is so synthesized that when he tries to do it live without the voice tube he can barely carry a tune. That's why he's so damn bitter.

Remember when that crazy dude climbed the stage decorations during the awards like 8 years ago? Even then, no security, because it''s supposed to just be celebrities by that stage and they should know how to handle themselves. Everyone always seems so surprised when a celeb charges the stage, but they get a lot more leeway than the fans!

His arrogance comes from hatred. His hatred is based on racism - - his own.

But that''s not WHY he did it. The last time he got this much press, he pulled a similar stunt at the MTV awards a few years ago, didn''t he? I smell desperation. He channeled his inner Lohan and made an ass out of himself for the publicity. Again.

Being that Kanye is from Chicago...I have to say, our radio stations were flooded this morning with the topic of his "speech". The overall vibe is that everyone is disgusted by him and his behavior.

I personally find him to be a complete maniac. In my opinion, there is nothing redeeming about him...not his music and certainly not his attitude. He has this inflatted ego--like he''s this amazing artist and therefore can say whatever he wants, whenever he wants. He is offensive, obnoxious and very off putting. I am embarrassed for him. Be it his comment about taking Michael Jackson''s throne days after his death, to the "Bush comment"...his VMA stunt two years ago claiming he would never return to MTV after not winning...and now this...

I think, collectively, people need to stop buying his music and ergo stop giving him attention. I understand that many people will feel that seperating the persona from the art is important...but Kayne is a huge cavet to that. By buying his records we''re encouraging his self worth...he needs to learn that the way someone acts does in fact impact who they are and how they are precieved--he is in a business like everyone else and doesn''t get a free pass. Taylor Swift is more or less a child being a teenager still, and his stunt last night proved to be at the expense of child who works very hard for her success. How dare he steal that moment from her...how would he feel if he won an award and someone had the gull to walk on stage and take the spotlight from him? He''s lose it, for sure. If he felt like Beyonce was "robbed" then he has numerous platforms to express that...twitter, his facebook or myspace, even his webpage...but that was neither the time nor the place to take a stand.

I found Beyonce to be so classy. I am not normally a fan of hers...but last night gave me a glimpse into who she is as a person...and she''s wonderful. To give Taylor that moment was the equivelent of more or less shutting Kayne down. I loved it. Good for her.

This is why I am inclined to think it IS a pr stunt.
The day after the awards, all everyone is talking about is Beyonce/Taylor. Lots of people are now saying they are new fans of both, etc etc.
Kanye''s music speaks for itself- you love it or you hate it. His drama is who he is...but I think it was completely made up to get us going. Its entertainment afterall.

I see your point but disagree.

I do not believe that because these people are classified as celebs that they can be considered immune to loony behaviour (case and point) and as such security would not be present and in force in that area.

I still think it is a stunt but I am not trying to convince anybody else.

I wasn''t watching the VMAs but I saw clips afterwards when everyone was talking about what happened. I felt so bad for Taylor Swift - she''s such a sweet young girl and to have Kanye get up there and basically tell her she didn''t deserve the award - I honestly find him to be despicable. I know Beyonce was half smiling when he was up there but I saw that as a shocked look - I don''t think she enjoyed that AT ALL. I''m glad Taylor got to give her speech at the end, but unfortunately she won''t get back the moment Kanye ruined for her.

And his apology does not even qualify as an apology - he said sorry but then went on to justify what he did again and basically said Taylor should give her award to the person who actually deserved it. That''s not an apology!!

He is also appearing on Jay Leno''s new show tonight. While Taylor Swift and Beyonce may not have been involved in any sort of PR scheme, that certainly doesn''t rule out this this wasnt spontaneous on his part.

I watched last night. Such a shame that his little tirade took away from so many great moments--for example, Pink''s performance was amazing!

Anyway, I wasn''t shocked that he did it but I sure was disgusted. Poor Taylor. But I also want to comment on the content of his speech--Beyonce has the best video of all time? Is he KIDDING? Please.
I''ll admit that Beyonce is extremely talented and exudes a great superstar Diana Ross aura about her, but best video of all time? No. Not even close. It actually made me laugh that he said that.

I could tell that she looked extremely mortified. To me, her smile was an uncomfortable one. And while I''m sure she probably agreed with Kanye, and perhaps was even a little flattered deep down, she''s smart enough to know that there is a time and place for opinions.

As for her letting Taylor have her moment? That''s some good PR.

thing2 - he has shown signs of it in the past, if others have kept up with him. For instance (don''t remember if I mentioned it above), he went ON and ON about being the FIRST black man on a country music tv show once, and it was COMPLETE BS b/c others had been on before him.... LONG before him in fact. The guy is a sleeze.... period.

Very well put Italia, my sentiments exactly. I think both ladies handled it as best they could. Now, I saw reports that he WASN''T thrown out after this bit. Seriously? Now there''s a saying about fool me once...

Okay, how is that racist? I guess I''m not really appreciating or understand the current usage of the word racist. Here''s Merriam-Webster''s definition:

Main Entry: rac·ism
Pronunciation: \ˈrā-ˌsi-zəm also -ˌshi-\
Function: noun
Date: 1933
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice or discrimination
— rac·ist \-sist also -shist\ noun or adjective

I''m not seeing how Kanye West fits into that.

I don''t know if he was thrown out or if he left on his own accord, but he definitely left after the tirade.
Last night I was trying to figure out where he went and I stumbled upon some type of MTV real-time blog. The person who was doing the updating said that after Kanye flipped out he went and stood by a security guard in the back of the venue. That security guard later confirmed that Kanye had left the building.

I don't think it's racism. I think he liked Beyonce better and thought he had enough industry authority/clout/public approval to get up on stage and pull a stunt like that. On a 19-yr-old teenager at that!

Unless it was staged on his end - in which case it might have totally blown up in his puffy little face.

did I mention I can't stand him?!

Why would he feel the need to make a big deal of being a Black man on Country Music Television?
