princess - Although I agree that celebration of breaking barriers can be important, I again don't see us ever TRULY letting go of the issue if we continue to highlight it.

But again, he also wasn't the first black person on country music television, so he again had no reason to boast, and again was a dbag

Sorry, I just think the guy is a jerk.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. 'We'll never move on from racism until people stop talking about racism and just sweep it under the rug! And Kanye West is a racist!'
Seriously, I am at a loss for words!

eta: And I guess I was late to this thread, but wow, the mentality of some people is truly shocking. How sad...

penn~i think he's a d-bag b/c of how he chooses to express himself -- it's always done in a way that suits HIM alone! Like, oh i want to say this now, so I WILL because I'm Kanye. Or, how dare they not give ME this award, I deserve it therefore I will have a big public fit because this is about ME. Or I'm having a hard time, I need sympathy..it's all ME ME ME and while he is talented he is not Elvis the Beatles or God (as he seems to think he is), so the public flogging is definitely much needed in his case. Love ya penn, just wanted to respond

I read a statement by Taylor Swift that said for her second speech opportunity, somebody pulled her aside and told her to stand just offstage with a mic, and she wasn''t really sure what was going on at first. So not sure if MTV or Beyonce set it up, but that''s why she was right there and ready to go.

It''s all about the ratings. The more press coverage the stunt gets, the more people will watch the re-run (I noticed they re-ran the show last night).
They rerun it for the next week. They actually replayed the show as soon as it was over! So that''s not unusual.

I''m glad Taylor was given the second opportunity, but sad that she lost that moment. There has been quite a stir locally. Lots of people are really irate with him. I almost HOPE he''ll take some time away and get some help b/c then maybe He''ll GET SOME HELP lol

I wonder where his arrogance and ''holier than thou'' attitude comes from?

He has to be the most arrogant person I have ever seen!

His arrogance comes from hatred. His hatred is based on racism - - his own.

But that''s not WHY he did it. The last time he got this much press, he pulled a similar stunt at the MTV awards a few years ago, didn''t he? I smell desperation. He channeled his inner Lohan and made an ass out of himself for the publicity. Again.

How does anything Kanye did have to do with racism? What are you even talking about?
+1
Yeah, seriously...really?

I believe this is ground we''ve already covered. Surely we don''t need to start fresh with another "Say what?" reaction. His personal ''issues'' are fairly well known; and someone provided links here as evidence of his ''issues''.

My post should not have started a finger pointing session between PSers, or opened anyone''s personal wounds, or been used as ammunition in anyone else''s ''issues'' with race - - their own or the other poster''s. It was a comment based upon known statements and actions by a celebutard. Let''s not drag ourselves into his crap.

Moving on. . .

has anyone seen any local action, or taken any? I personally requested that our radio station no longer play him. The more people endorse him the more he thinks he''s the best best best thing ever! I know several people who have said they won''t be purchasing his stuff in the future.

I also meant to mention that Taylor really did a great job of moving on an putting on an awesome performance!

Apparently, the hatred for Kayne runs far and wide...even to the highest level of US government. According to USA Today, Obama reportedly called Kayne a "jacka**" privately and off the record. How we know this, is apparently Obama was mic''d at the time he made the comment.

Italia - I thought that was quite comical mself

I''ve never heard of Taylor Swift, but I feel bad for her about this! I''ve heard of Kanye West, but I really don''t know anything about him other than the fact that he is supposedly famous.

Dragonfly--I think it''s important that consequences exist for unacceptable behavior, and I''m glad to hear that radio stations are taking action. I don''t know if anyone watches tennis, but Serena Williams just threatened a linesman during the U.S. Open semis, and as a consequence she lost the set (and match) and had to pay a fine. There''s a lot of discussion about whether she should have been able to play doubles, which she did, and I think it''s a healthy discussion.

Maybe he''s bi-polar?

Aww, thanks Kaleigh! It''s going great. How are things with you?

Hey, I just wanted to say Kanye''s actions are not really signs of bi-polar more of just being a JERK. Bipolar is a chemical imbalance in the brain which causes euphoric highs and manic lows. Maybe you were thinking of something else...? or joking?

Haven - Taylor Swift is an up and coming teenage country music singer. She writes all of her own songs and is EXTREMELY down to earth and fan friendly (she blogs on her myspace and twitter regularly about just... things. About her cat and touring and what her breakfast tastes like lol). I really like her a lot. She actually has had some top songs (you belong with me, Love Story - romeo and juliet one, Tears on my guitar etc).

I hadn''t heard of the Serena Williams thing but Kudos to them for taking action!!! To me these people are supposed to serve as role models and they should recognize it and mind their behavior at all times. I understand emotions get the better of us, but it seems that in past days, stars were less apt to do something like this. Could you see Frank Sinatra doing something like that???

Alas, I cannot take credit for that stroke of genius. Some writer, somewhere, came up with that one. Kudos to them for hitting that nail squarely on the head.

I haven''t read all the comments but I read this article on Cracked BEFORE the music awards thing happened. It lists a bunch of other stupid stuff he''s done. It''s so funny it made me laugh out loud.

http://www.cracked.com/blog/what-if-kanye-west-is-retarded/

LMFAO. While I protest the use of the word retarded while referring to Kanye - or people in general, most of the time - I think it is downright hilarious that he thinks he has "baby Tourette''s." He really is an idiot.
