Hi.
I am looking to buy a round diamond to wear as a pendant and was hoping for some help from PSers. I am hoping to get around a 2 carat weight. To get most sparkle and size for my buck, what can I afford to compromise on, in my search?
I am happy with an I color.
Will be ok with an eye clean SI1.

Can I accept a shallower stone (I read that somewhere), and if so, what table and depth % should I put into the advanced filter?
I also read (oh yes, I have done my research!!:read: :D) that a shallow crown and deep pavilion angle maximises brightness? I would like to get maximum brightness at the expense of fire. Again, what are the figures I should be looking at.
I know the best judge of a diamond is looking at it in person but I won't be able to do that so will have to rely on a thorough internet search.

Is there anything else I should consider. Is fluorescence important at all?

Thanks in advance, M

Quickest and easiest way to filter stones that have angles and measurements that work is to use the search tool at the top of the forum and then select 'Excellent' within the HCA section of the Advanced Filters page.

A lower crown and/or a larger table will be more likely to create white light than coloured fire, as you say.

Flourescence should make zero difference to performance in the vast majority of stones. Strong and Very Strong are the only potential risk, but they are not that common and those with issues (haziness or 'oiliness') are even less common.

You could look for a 60/60 diamond. 60 Depth/60 table. Crowns will be lower (more white light than colored...like in the 33 degree range). Pavilions
around 41 degrees. You cant usually set the crown/pavilion angles in advanced settings. Only table and depths but its a start.

Thanks very much for your helpful replies. The search begins....
