Ok, so I was originally looking for an asscher cut diamond. That didn't work out and now I'm looking for a round cut.

What do you guys this of this one? If you can find something nicer for around $8000-9000 i am all ears!!! Looking to propose in 3 weeks in Culebra Island, Puerto Rico!

Idealscopes and ASET's trump HCA's. That said, not the best IS and ASET's.......... keep looking if you are going for the best!

I agree, I think you should keep looking, I'm not in love with those IS/ASETs. There's no need to use the HCA for stones that have those images, or even if they are graded an AGS ideal for light performance. AGS takes into account a lot more than the 4-5 angles the HCA uses. If you sacrifice a little size, you can get a better cut.

This one has a much better IS, and the wire price is only $200 more. It's a tad smaller, but you get a color upgrade. You can ask them for the PS discount as well (it's a a percentage point or two, but it'll bring the cost down at least $100). BGD Blue stones are already vetted so the fluorescence isn't negatively affecting the stone (it's only medium blue anyways)

ETA: As with all SI stones, IMO it's worth asking the vendor to check whether it's eye clean to your standards, whatever that may be (6 inches from all sides, etc)

I'd pass on that one too (although there's something special about owning an IF diamond). If you click on the idealscope and ASET images, there's light leakage in the table. It has quite a steep crown angle.

I think most PSers, myself included, would rather have an ideal cut stone that's a little smaller, than a stone that's a tad larger but doesn't have maximum sparkle. It seems like you're trying to stick with a 1.3ct stone. Try to get the best cut stone for your money, even if you have to compromise on size.

That one is very similar but looks nicer to me...

That SI2 was a great find, I can't believe it's one either. I'd ask JA for an idealscope image on it

Do you know how to use HCA and Ideal scope? One thing to look out for: the difference between a deep 1.3 and an ideal 1.2 is about a tenth of a millimeter in diameter.

1.3, can't believe it is an SI2: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.31-carat-h-color-si2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-257580

No i did not, now i do! Thanks!!!

I really liked that diamond, i asked for the idealscope and they reserved it for me. If the idealscope comes out well then it will be the one. I have nothing else that comes close to that diamond for a $8-9k budget... If anyone sees anything nicer please let me know. I am going crazy trying to find the perfect diamond.
