Further to my previous 3 stone ring post today, my friend has been offered the following stones for her 3 stone engagement ring instead of the ones posted earlier.

The two side stones look good I think, but just want to make sure the centre stone is good too. Is ideal scope image ok? Thanks for your help.

If I'm not mistaken, those aren't the ideal scope images for light performance, those are the hearts and arrows. Here is a quote I found from an old thread about the difference:

"Here is a quote of part of a post from expert Dave Atlas, as this should be of help to you. Basically the H&A viewer is used to look at symmetry and patterning and isn't used to determine leakage, an Idealscope will show any light leakage and symmetry / patterns.

"The Ideal-Scope discriminates high brilliancy diamonds from lower performance stones. It remains useful while the H&A thingy is a marketing tool more than a gemology tool.

Depending on your personal choice in what sort of diamonds to buy, these tools may make more or less sense to each individual. We use the Ideal-Scope daily on many diamonds. We never use a H&A viewer except upon request or to check out if a supposed H&A diamond has the H&A effect present. Performance and H&A do not exactly correlate while Performance and I-S appearance do correlate."
"

Here's a link to examples of the ideal scope images you should be receiving:

If you get an actual idealscope, that will give you more information about any light leakage in the stone.

Have they classified that stone as H&A? It's just that the hearts seem to be splitting and aren't homogenous and the arrows don't seem to be coming together properly either.

Thanks, you are very helpful. They aren't branding them as H & A. Just trying to get some sparkly stones. I will pass this info onto my friend.

No worries. The idealscope will help give you the best idea of how sparkly the stone will be. Good luck!
