I'm going to buy a diamond from a local jeweler. I had a chance to look at several diamonds and this one I like the most so far:

GIA Report Link

ROUND BRILLIANT:
  • Measurements 6.77 - 6.81 x 4.02 mm
    Carat Weight 1.12 carat
    Color Grade I
    Clarity Grade VS2
    HCA 1.6

What do you think about it? It looks totally clean even under 10x magnifying glass. And I didn't see the difference between I and F color at all.

Should I be concerned about anything else before I make my final decision?

Thank you very in advance for your help!

This is what is called a 60/60 diamond - table and depth both 60%. Do you prefer this cut?

+1 on MissGotRocks comment, this is a distinct look as the diamond will trade off some fire and scintillation for the added brightness of a shallower cut. If this is your preference great, if you are unsure you may want to consider having them show you a stone that is a bit deeper 61.%-62.5% with a smaller table say 55%-57% and see which you like better.

Other than that I dont see any red flags.

So, given this cut, 1.6 HCA won't guarantee good/great fire?

It's hard to say for me what I prefer because I didn't see any diamonds in my life except three or four that I looked at this week.

Is there something more preferable than 60/60 diamond? Is 60/60 bad? I thought 1.6 HCA would mean a great fire...

That's so confusing, but thanks a lot for your inputs!

Ultimately what is the best is what you like, there is an element of personal taste to this. That being said there is a different look between deep stones with small tables and shallow stones with big tables, both could very well score high on the HCA, but you may prefer one look over the other.
