What do you think about this as a RHR?

I love the look of several eternity bands stacked together. Recently I saw this cartier ring. It has a beautiful shape (has something of a knife-edge, but is flat on the top) and think it would be nice for stacking with eternities too.

My question is: this ring is sold as a wedding ring, and obviously looks like one. But would it look like a wedding ring if I wear it stacked with eternity bands on my right hand???

I really don''t want people to assume that I am married - but I just love this ring...
Is anyone of you wearing something similar as a RHR (eg. a knife-edge band)? Do people mistake it for a wedding band?

Personally I think anything you wear on your right hand won''t be mistaken as a wedding ring. :-) I''ve seen lots of women with bands on the right hand...I just assume they like ''em!

I agree, if you wear it on your right hand with other stacking rings, it won''t look like a wedding band at all. I have 2 plainish WG rings and 2 matching eternity bands and when I wear the 2 eternities with one of the WB''s, it tends to look like one wider ring. Go for it if you love it. Plain bands are an accessory IMO.

Nope!
Looks lovely!
I often add a plain band to a stack.

Thanks for your opinion

I would think the same... but where I live (Europe) in some neighbouring countries (Germany, Austria) people wear wedding rings on the right hand.
23.gif

And I saw many people (men and women) wearing promise rings on the right hand too...
I am wearing a thin eternity band on my right hand and people sometimes ask if taht''s my engagement/wedding ring... maybe if I wear some different bands stacked it might look less wedding-ring-ish?
2.gif

but that cartier band might really be mistaken

thanks also to you, lyra and coatimundi !
I am a very slow poster, sorry

maybe just another question: what would look better as a stacking ring: the tiffany knife''s edge or the cartier one? I think I am getting the cartier (it has that something different...) but the knife''s edge is nice too. what do you think? maybe the one with the flat edge is more comfy for every day wear. (I haven''t seen the 2 rings in person yet)

btw. coatimundi - I forgot to mention that I love the picture in your avatar!!! wow, your rings are stunning!

What do you think when you see a thin plain band stacked with a diamond band on someone in your country? It may be mistaken for a wedding band. It really depends on your culture.

I don''t find a knife edge uncomfortable but I prefer the look of the flatter knife edge you posted.

If I see a plain band on a man''s hand, I see it definitely as a wedding band. On a woman''s (right) hand with other stacking bands... hmmm I''m not sure... That''s a question a man might have a better answer if it looks to him that this women is "not available anymore"

As lyra suggested, with one eternity band on each side it might look less like a wedding set???

I don''t think having a band on each side makes it look less like a wedding set. If I saw someone in England with two thin eternity bands and a plain band between them I''d just assume that it was unique wedding set. In England wedding bands and engagement rings vary a lot. I''d assume that any ring worn on the left ring finger was a wedding set.

Do it!

Because my original wedding band is platinum, and my engagement ring is white gold, I often wear my platinum band on my right hand ring, sandwiched between my two tiny baguette bands. I love the look, and I still get to wear my original wedding band on my finger.

I understand that. That's my point. It depends on the norm in your culture. You mentioned it might be mistaken as wedding set because right hand wedding sets happen in your culture or neighbouring countries.

If, in your culture, it is normal to wear your wedding set on your right hand then, yes, in my opinion it will look like a wedding set - just as it would if I wore that combination on my left hand in my culture. If, in your culture, people do not wear their wedding set on their right hand then it will look like any other ring worn on a right hand.

Whatever the case, it's a very pretty set and I like the idea of those two or three rings together.

Would be great so see a pic of your plat band with the eternities!!! Could you post a pic for me please?

I am looking for a tiny baguette band as well.

IMO it looks great to wear plain bands and eternities stacked, BUT my only worry is that it might be mistaken for a wedding set (even more than just the eternity bands, which seem not to be as popular wedding bands as plain bands here in switzerland

I think the culture in switzerland is very similar to the culture in england. people wear their wedding rings on the right hand. maybe I am too sensitive about the right-hand topic because in my hometown I know many german and austrian people who wear their wedding set on the right hand

Really? I know a few engaged English ladies and they all wear their rings on their left hands. My friend from France thought I was engaged when she saw my grandma's diamond ring on my right hand though, because they wear engagement/wedding rings on the right hand there.

Meh, wear it wherever you want. People always ask me if I'm engaged because of my rings, and I just tell them I'm not--I don't stop wearing the rings!

I wore mine on my right hand and know one English chick who does as well - both of us before marriage. Maybe I''m just difficult though

Hehehe! Could be.

Hmmm, so do all the guys I meet here think I'm engaged? I wear a half-carat diamond ring on my right hand all the time! (ETA: My great-grandmother's engagement ring)

That is odd though, I would've thought folks would do it the same way in the same country. And I just remembered--the two ladies who work in the library with me also wear their wedding sets on their left hands (from this area, Cambridgeshire). Maybe it's a regional thing?

Nah, I think I'm just odd. Most people seem to wear it on their left or not at all in England from what I can tell. Not that everyone I meet chooses to discuss their relationship status with me
2.gif
I'm switched my e-ring to my left hand now anyway. Most days.

Dreamy, do it! Do you have a photo of the eternity band that you're talking about pairing it with?

Well I am married, and I wear my original YG 4mm wedding band as a RHR because my 10 anniversary 3 stone and my 11th anniversary pipe cut band are on my left ring finger. I say do what you like...if anyone is that curious about your marital status, they can ask you!

Thanks gwendolyn, addy and diamond dana!

so it seems that some people wear their wedding or engagement sets also on the right hand in many countries...
I think it is mostly a question of the type of ring: a plain band (or even an eternity) might always be mistaken as a wedding band or promise ring.

addy - I have no digicam at the moment... all I could do was this horribly blurry pic with my cell phone - sorry!
even if you don''t see much, it''s a 0.4 carat channel set diamond band in WG.
I''ll get another thin rose gold eternity to match it (thinking about the new tiffany metro, but maybe I''ll get something similar at a local jeweller. still not sure)
But I am planning to get some tiffany stacking rings in plat in the future... one day
20.gif

diamond dana - you''re right: if someone really wants to know, they can ask about your martial status. but I guess if you don''t know someone very well you won''t ask this personal question and just assume that he is married.

They also wear wedding sets on their right hand in Serbia as well, I don''t think it will look like a wedding band especially if you stack it as well.

oops, sorry - I got confused: I wanted to write: "I think the culture in switzerland is very similar to the culture in england. people wear their wedding rings on the LEFT hand

I haven''t seen the Cartier knife-edge - looks great.

I love the Tiff''s though.

Tough call.

Both bands are pretty, I am not sure which one I prefer. Either way, you will have a beautiful band.

Oh, sparkly eternity band. From what I can tell it looks like a great mm size on you.

actually, it looks somehow bigger on the picture than it really is (maybe because it''s so blurry) It''s 2mm - a great size for stacking (even for 3 bands!

Ms. Dreamy- I LOVE the Cartier...just wondering though, where did you find it on the website? I checked and didn''t see it. I''m thinking of stopping over tomorrow afternoon to see it in person.

yay! scarlet, you have to tell me how it looks in person after your trip to cartier!!!
36.gif

they have it already for a while: I saw it a few months ago and it is still on their website (I got the picture there yesterday) but it was tricky: it is not listed in the german website for example - so maybe they don''t have it in the US website as well. check out the "europe"-"english" homepage - there you''ll definitely find it!

are you looking for it as a wedding band? what do you think about it as a stacked RHR???
