I saw this for sale. I am not interested, I just want to know what is this and what is causing the opaque look to it. The seller says it is an IGI J :confused: there is a video too that I can’t post, and the diamond has zero sparkle. It’s really weird.

DK did the setting.

(My apologies if this ring belongs to someone here)

Too much flouesence?

I saw it for sale as well, as was intrigued (but not for purchase purposes; more so general interest). I thought it was noted in the listing to be a gray diamond, but could be mistaken.

It’s kinda cool/different in an edgy sort of way.

ETA: the seller noted it was ‘opalescent’, which is a good way to describe it, it seems.

looks like a fancy white

Winner winner chicken dinner!! Thanks,

https://www.leibish.com/about-natural-fancy-white-diamonds-article-821

“They are actually colorless diamonds that contain a high concentration of submicroscopic inclusions that scatter light, yielding a distinctive frosty "milky" white face-up color. The nature of these submicroscopic inclusions is unknown, although they are thought to be the result of nitrogen within the diamond’s pure carbon structure.”

Yes, he did say gray and opal like.

;(Wow, I have never seen s fancy white! Thanks for posting whitewave!

Looks like a cloudy diamond from Michael Hill

I’d be intrigued to see it in real life. I don’t like it at all in the front-on shot, but the colour in the side view and in the slightly tilted front shot looks delicate and pretty to me - I like the kind of opal sheen. What kind of pricing level was it @whitewave - I assume it wouldn’t command fancy colour diamond pricing?

It's listed on DB for 6.2K, which is a great price compared to what Leibish lists theirs for. The seller says it has an IGL cert, although I haven't seen a copy of it.

If someone from PS does end up buying it, please send it to GIA. I would love to see their take on this diamond.

EDIT: I should clarify that I have no idea as to whether this would actually grade as a fancy white (vs. say an I3). Buy at your own risk.

It kinda looks like a cross between an opal and a moonstone!

GIA doesn’t grade clarity for a fancy white. (I don’t think anyway). It would be less than an I3. My original engagement ring is an eyeclean I1 and is nothing like this.

IIRC, there was a threat about Fancy White diamonds a little while back. It was this thread wherein I first learned about Fancy White diamonds. Interesting, but I am not a fan of these diamonds..

DK just finished it recently (May maybe? I found it on his IG) so either she said no or she got tired of it quickly.

It is a beautiful setting, what metal is that?

Black gold! Also, you can see the top diamonds are inverted so the pavilion is showing.

Thank you! It certainly is an interesting piece and I like the edgy vibe, but probably more of a fun RHR than as an ER. It looks really cool in the last photo, but I don't care for the strait on look. I think it would have been better as a rose cut to enhance the opalescent qualities of light play.

Cool find, thanks for sharing!

Mmm somehow I think of snow... wonder how it’ll look in a snowflake halo?

The price for a 3.52 carat looks quite good?

Because it isn’t brilliant, I would think a halo would look better, so you get bling and rarity

I really like that! I'd love to see something like that in person.

I'm glad I found this thread in the depths of pricescope, because I was semi-seriously thinking about buying it!
I don't have any experience with these kinds of included diamonds that are becoming more popular in the alternative bridal market... I find it interesting enough to wear, but ideally would like to know that it has resale value if I end up wanting to get rid of it.
