What color polish are you rocking right now?

China Glaze Good Witch

Rubyshoes, that's a gorgeous color! Looks just like Glinda's gown in the movie! I'm a sucker for anything Wizard of Oz-themed, I think I've shared that with you before since your screen name reflects your interest. For NYE, I used a glitter polish by OPI called "Rainbow Connection" from the Muppets line they did a couple years back. It looks similar to what ForteKitty (I think) posted above, but nowhere near as thick! It would take many coats to achieve the appearance hers did. I use it over dark polishes or just by itself when I want a little chunky sparkle. It's mostly worn off now (I wash my hands like 90 times a day--toddler) or I'd post a pic. ;))

Monarch, yes, you're right. It's exactly like her gown! The best part is, it does have sparkly glitter in it (although you can't tell in the photo) but it's a bit subtle so I can still wear it to work :wink2:

ForteKitty, that's a sad case of glitter polish.

AprilBaby, I do my own nails.

So my green NYE polish chipped off so I decided to go with a neutral for a change. A - England Her Rose Adagio.

holy moly I love A England but haven't bought any of hers in a while. I love this collection but just haven't had the chance to pick it up. such a lovely neutral but the holo just kicks it up a notch!!

WOW! Love this color!!

I just changed my nails to RBL Piu Mosso... A darkish navy with copper tones-- It's so dark and lovely- but doesn't photograph well at night!

I had been wearing Sally Hansen's Tender Mulberry, which I love, and now I'm wearing OPI's Crepes Suzi-ette. I always go for reds that are more berry colored than bright or deep red. I still haven't found a top coat that I love, so I usually have to touch up my nails more often when I use Sally Hansen's products.

Thanks pandabee and manderz! The holo in this polish is mesmerizing . I took a quick shot in the sun to show more colors. The formula is also great - goes on like buttah.

Zoe and bean, I'd love to see photos on those shades.

I love that holo BM! I just ordered a silver holo from SquareHue's December collection.

Here is my SquareHue box from January. I don't love the buttery yellow one, but the other two are great colors. I'm wearing the blue, West End, and it started chipping before day 2. This is the least chipped nail. Time to get some Seche!

Here's a pic of OPI's Crepe Suzette (or Suzi-ette ??) on the left and Hally Hansen's Tender Mulberry on the right.

It's really impossible to photograph this polish--- the color is somewhere between the bottle and what it looks like on the nails. In low light it almost looks black, but during the day you can def tell that it is a deep navy.. and then the glimmer comes out in high lighting situations.

Kunzite, the colors are great but only 2 days for wear is disappointing.

Zoe, lovely colors. SH looks more mauve than red on my monitor.

Bean, I also like when polish gives you a little bonus color change.

What does everyone do with the polish they no longer wear? Sometimes I buy polish and it just doesn't go well with my skin tone so almost a full bottle just sits there collecting dust. Or I get tired of some colors. Do you do an occasional purge?

I think you're right, Baby Monster, Tender Mulberry is more mauve than red. The pic I chose to post makes it seem a bit on the pink side but it's a bit darker than it looks there.

When the polishes I have begin to separate, that's when I know they've usually lasted enough in my drawer and it's time to throw them out. Sometimes I just shake them really well and continue using them, but I don't know if that's good for my nails or if it matters. I always throw out polishes that have gotten thick and goopy. Then I KNOW I've kept them too long.

I'd love to try other colors but I always stick to mauves and berry shades for my hands. I never know which colors look best on my fair skin. I like using fun colors like orange on my toes. I tried a gray one a while ago (can't remember the brand) and it looked like I had poured concrete on my nails. It was awful. I use it occasionally on my toes but I'm not crazy about it. This thread is giving me lots of ideas!

Many people don't know this, but nail polish isn't supposed to go into landfills. You're supposed dispose of them as hazardous waste. Zoya had an Earth Day event last year. You can buy as many as you want and get 50% off, as long as you promise to ship back polish you no longer wear so they can dispose of it properly. I thought it was fantastic idea.

Fortekitty, I didn't know that. Thanks for the tip!

Many cities/counties have Household Hazardous Waste/E-Waste roundups from time to time. I usually just keep all my stuff in a bucket until there's an event, then bring it all in at once.

If anyone is in L.A. County, here is the site for information and events: http://dpw.lacounty.gov/epd/cleanla/HHW.aspx

::)

I also didn't know that until Zoya started that promo. I did not partake this year but I did the previous two years. They were also ok if you didn't send polish in but disposed of them at a hazardous waste site since shipping the polish to them was almost more expensive than if you just got the Zoya full price.

Speaking of... they have a promo coming up on the 7th with get ANY 3 Zoya Polishes (even the pixiedusts) for $12 shipping. It's a great way to try out the brand if you have never tried.... I am def ordering and making my mom order too (haha)

That's great info, FK. I have to look into it.

bean, which colors are you getting? I just ordered one of the polishes from the naturel collection. Should've waited.

Well first.. let me say that I have a bit over 100 Zoya colors.. so the colors I would recommend as favs vs, what I'm getting are different.

I have not tried any of the PixieDusts, so I have Stevie and Tomoko in my cart, I also have Mosheen, Blu, Giovanna, Sailor, and Dream (a blue theme, apparently.) I have missed the last few collections so I've been going through and googling swatches.

What color did you get of the Naturel collection?

My favorite Zoya colors are:
Dharma (pinky neutral with blue glimmer)
Diana (red jelly, but is a very smooth application)
Delilah (red jelly with red glitter)
Zuza (tealish foil)

They do have so many colors that I love, but these I would buy again if I lost a bottle :)

I love Delilah and Zuza! Do you have Blaze? that one is one of my favs. Of the ones you have in your cart, I have Mosheen, Giovanna, Sailor, and Dream. Giovanna is so easy to apply. Mosheen is great on top of a bunch of different colors. Haven't tried Sailor and Dream yet.

I've never paid for shipping. That $12 can buy 1.5 bottles! Just buy a bunch to qualify for free shipping. :cheeky:

I just wanted to post and let Fortekitty and Bean know that seeing all of their posts on Zoya polishes inspired me to order a few! I ordered Storm, Blaze, and Aurora. I recently painted with Aurora with Deborah Lippman Happy Birthday over my ring fingers only. It looks very festive! I'll post a pic later! Love this thread!

I bought Rue from the new collection. I also looked at Blaze and Aurora but I prefer the holo glitter in A England polishes in similar shades so decided to pass on those.

Baby monster, I freakin love this polish! Does it read more of a pink or lavendar or grey? I"ve never heard of A-England. Where do you get yours from? Off to google search....

It's an interesting mix of lavender, grey and silver with multicolor holographic glitter. If you like the picture, it looks 10 times better IRL. Ahh-mazing. Plus it goes on very smooth and smells less than any other polish I have. I buy mine on ebay but there are small websites that sell these indie polish brands.

Here's my NYE paint job! Zoya's Aurora with Deborah Lippman Happy Birthday on ring fingers only! I got the Lippman little holiday set from Sephora that had a mini Happy Birthday and another mini pink color in the sparkly pouch thingy. It was a great stocking stuffer to myself! ha!

Ok ok...My pic didn't come out that great but it gives an idea! I'm working on my painting skills at home!

Oh I agree! I never like to pay for shipping on ANYTHING lol. I meant that they have 3 FREE bottles but you pay $12 shipping.. so it's like $4 a bottle with free ship? LOL THey also are doing spend an additional $25 get free shipping (so essentially the 3 will really be free.) I hope that makes sense.

I do have blaze too. I need to make a spread sheet on what I have because I have purchased a color that I already owned too many times!

Trust me, the more you do it the easier it gets. I did not do my nails basically the entire time I was pregnant/ nursing so I lost some of my skillz, and am working on technique again.

But, IMO I think you did a GREAT job- better than some nail bloggers...

Haha, that's what I meant but I was on my phone and didn't explain it well enough.

I just removed Zoya Ibiza. Put it on last night and it took 2 hours to dry. Their polish normally dries much faster than that! Then I went to sleep and got blanket print all over it, which was unusual for a zoya polish. I always do my nails at night and put on the top coat the next day, but it didn't work with Ibiza. It was really watery and hard to apply w/o getting it all over my fingers. Not really a fan of the color either.

Gonna put on Dream now.

eta: Dream looks great... just not on me. I need green or violet modifiers in blues. Pure blues don't look good on me. :( Dream applies like a dream, though.

The only way that I can do my nails now is with a coat of seche vite on top. It dries super fast so that I don't get lines on my nails. Since I have a LO I can't have much downtime to let my nails dry so I usually do mine at 11pm at night right before bed hehe

As far as dream- do you have an Jellies to go on top? Maybe a coat of Paloma?

Dream looks much better during daylight. I was cleaning and scraping at stuff an hour afterwards and there are no smudges!

Might put Mosheen on top in a day or two and see how that looks. It has a teal-ish tint.

Thanks for the heads up Bean! I have Payton, Carter, Blaze, Godiva, Stevie, and Arabella in my cart
