I was pretty set on doing a rose gold bezel pendant for this stone, but looking for ideas, came across this gorgeous bracelet from LGK: https://www.pricescope.com/communit...ght-brown-in-rose-gold-bezel-bracelet.156574/ She and a few others on her thread thought that the rose gold actually washed out the color of the stone and made it blend in. I'm not sure it's necessarily a bad thing. I'm not planning on any accent diamonds, so what do you think is the best metal to use for it? Should I go for some sort of two-tone combo? Rose gold alone? Rose bezel, white chain? Some other combo? Thanks!

Have you ever seen waity-Katie's ring? If not, do a search for it and you'll see the most gorgeous w/x champagne stone set in rose gold with a small white diamond halo. THAT is what I'd do!

Thanks guys! I've seen quite a few with halos and while gorgeous, they're not what I have in mind for this stone, it'll be just a plain bezel. Thus the dilemma.

With that in mind I had a quick look at Diamonds by Lauren to get a sense of different stone and metal colour combinations:

I think, maybe, if the stone is a yellow-brown then yellow gold would look better than rose. Whereas if it's a pink-brown then rose gold.

Alternatively, a white gold halo on a rose mount, with a white gold chain? Something like this but finer...

I know everyone will say rose gold but I think that would look very yummy in yellow. Reminds me of some Swarovski earrings I have

This is a bit pinker, but the RG looks great.

But, I gotta agree with @Niel that YG would also be lovely.

{p.s. I cheated and looked for champagne and brown sapphires;)2}

Do you have the money to do white side stones? I think it would be amazing in yellow gold with white sides.

With @Niel's color suggestion, maybe a shared partial bezel like this, so you get the colors to set 'next' to each other like Niel's idea.

It's kind of hard to tell exactly from the pics....but I'd try Rose gold bezel, or prongs.
I like Niel's idea about white side diamonds- but I'd go rose gold for the center if I was building a three stone.
It likely won't make the stone look pink- but there's a chance it might. That's one aspect of these colors I find fascinating. You can really never tell what it's going to look like till the stone is actually set. These colors can be affected by setting more than high white- or darker fancy colored stones. That is to say, sometimes they pick up color, but not always. There are many variables that I believe contribute to this. The way the stone is cut, the way the metal is alloyed, and finished, setting design, etc.
Having said that- it looks like a lovely stone- it should look nice in white yellow or rose. Even if it doesn't pick up color.

I'll go against the grain and suggest white gold or platinum - that colour is glorious and would just pop with a white metal. You could do a two-tone bezel to get the rose in too

Thank you all so much for the suggestions, links and photos!

Totallyfree- thank you for the link to The DBL gallery, lots of different options to consider! Did you mean the one with a thick triple bezel from my jewelry source? It won't let me copy the photo, but I like the idea, with a much more delicate bezel!

Niel - I hadn't considered yellow gold, but looking at your suggestions, I'm not sure why! Definitely considering now! I agree it would great with white stone, but I really want to keep it as simple as possible, not only due to budgetary concerns, but also because I really want it to be a simple, everyday layering piece. So trying to stick to metal only, no side stones.

Rockysalamander- love the first two bezel rings! It does seem that the rose gold brings out the pink while the yellow makes it look more brown. I'm not sure if mine has much pink to it at all, it looks kind of peachy to me, I think, but it seems to change color a bit depending on the lighting.

Rockdiamond, really appreciate your expert opinion (and all the eye candy in your site)! Good to know that the color may be more affected by the metal in this kind of diamond, something I haven't considered at all.

Wondering if something like this one from CVB (without the inner white metal milgrain) would provide the needed contrast.

Me? I'd stick with Platinum, and choose a setting with white single-cut melee as accent stones.

Thanks for the white metal suggestions, Marymm and Foxinsox! I keep comparing it against white vs rose gold and it seems like it may just not have enough color to pop against the white metal. It just makes it looks grayish. Probably need a more saturated stone to make it pop against the white.

Just wanted to update this thread with the final product I got from David. Went with 18k rose gold for the pendant and a white gold chain. I think it turned out quite well! pendant.JPG

Wow, this is perfect! I love the rose gold and mixed metals, enjoy!!!!

I think if you want the color to stand out that you should put it in an unplated white gold maybe with a rose gold chain.

If you want more of a smooth seamless look then put it in rose gold.

I* think the color is really pretty and I would try to make it stand out.

This is my thought too. It would look dreamy in a yellow gold bezel

It's beautiful!! :appl:I think you made a great choice!
