027EF5EF-47D9-4F79-A31A-8E3073EE8C46.jpeg I know pictures aren’t terribly helpful, but wondering if it’s worth it to buy this and reset the diamonds.
There’s no info on it, just for sale in an estate sale. It was the seller’s grandmother’s ring.
I’ve seen many like it, so I think it was a popular style at one time.
Maybe the 70’s or 80’s?

No.

Also no.

No, not worth buying, or no, you can’t tell anything?
My friend is really interested in it.
I personally am on the side of no, but I thought I’d ask the experts.

You can't tell anything from those pics so no, absolutely not worth buying. What is your friend trying to make that they would want to reset mystery diamonds? You're probably better off contacting a jeweler directly with what you want to make and getting quotes. In general diamonds in small sizes like that are not terribly expensive, you'll spend more on the gold and labor.

She just loves diamond hunting and if she can get decent diamonds at good prices to use in other pieces she will.

Without good pics there's no way to know if they ARE decent diamonds. It just makes no sense.

Agreed!
I told her I’d at least ask the diamond tribe for opinions.

actually, how can you be sure it is a diamond at all?

If the price was really cheap, perhaps.
Without knowing the size, colour and clarity of the diamonds no one can say whether it’s worth $1,000 or $20,000 or even be sure that the gems are in fact diamonds.
Value is determined by the size and quality of the diamonds and without that information unless you have a lot of experience and can make a reasonable “visual” assessment, you can’t determine what would be a fair and reasonable price.

I can tell that it’s not worth 1k

I wouldn’t spend $90 on that ring
I absolutely would not but it to “turn into something else” with the photos provided. Probably never.

This ring would only be worth if it were both cheap- and already her size and style

Anyone who commonly goes “diamond hunting” would know to stay away from that

I totally agree with you guys!
I personally wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole, but I didn’t want to say anything and hurt her feelings.
I’ve leaned that no one wants my diamond advice! Lol!

If she likes diamond hunting, she should probably invest in a presidium tester so she knows if she’s paying for a diamond or not.
