Milky/sleepy sapphire today. Love how dreamy it looks... was looking at it earlier and was thinking a bigger (maybe 6-8 ct) sleepy stone in old mine halo would be so fabulous!

A cloudy blue-sy winter day with moonstone and sapphire rings.

Oh and there’s the chrysoberyls too! A12EC2F4-28B6-4317-8441-CB990F19D239.jpeg

@T L Crystal & Ice! Love love your rm ring! I love how beautifully your halo works with the cab, and ends up enhancing it in the end instead of fighting it for center stage! I'm not sure what It is, but I've been in a blue stone mood lately, rainbow moonstones & sapphires oh my!

Thank you!!
It’s a blue moonstone.

Interesting, I always thought that all moonstones that had a translucent base and blue sheen, whether its blue alone or mixed with green, yellow, etc that they're classified as rainbow moonstones but it looks as if "Blue Moonstones" are a kind all their own under the moonstone umbrella. Lovely!

I’m not sure to be honest with you, which is why I modified my original comment. I own both kinds and they’re such lovely gems. They’re hypotonic in a way. I hope you get one soon. Thanks again!

When you said that I looked it up and it sounds as if they are indeed seperate. I'm too lazy to go and link the article/page that I found but if you're super curious let me know and I'll go back and find it but I believe they even stated that rainbow moonstone vs. blue moonstone even has a different chemical composition. I don't think that it was from a prominent research lab or site so who really knows?!

& Your ring stuck out because I have a sweet little 3.5mm omc & a gorgeous clear as water moonstone that I want to set in a more modern setting.

Another poster gave me these ideas for the ring in my small purchases thread but def something along these lines. The moonstone has yellow, pink, orange and blue in it though so I suppose it's a rainbow moonstone despite blue being the most dominant and that it's translucent instead of transparent.

The rainbow/blue flash is really difficult to get at night!

Beautiful moonstone. It reminds me of the rainbow colors that oil sometimes makes on water. Thanks for the information on moonstones.

Organizing rings today in my ring box. Wearing my dark purple spinel ring.

The yellow gold ring on the middle digit, is that an Ivy and Rose setting?

What are the side stones with the purple spinel? That's a gorgeous dark purple without gray!

Yes, it’s an Ivy and Rose! I originally bought it with a blue sapphire in it, but I found I didn’t reach for it. So I swapped it out with a demantoid garnet and my jeweller suggested plating some parts in yellow gold. I love it now, it really pops! I’m planning to re-set the sapphire in yellow gold too.

The side stones with the spinel are sapphires. Yes, this spinel is really dramatic. It’s very dark indoors and then it’s gorgeous in the sun.

Not exactly wearing but took some opals out to play at home as they aren’t exactly wearable outside given all the hand sanitizers...

Mexican, black, and peruvian opals

Not the best images (see my skin color) but the play of color on the black opal is still fascinating to me - just looks so different at different angles

IMG_2663.jpg My silly green quartz/ vermarine ring with six tiny peridots. I know the quartz is very windowed but I got this ring for a bargain and I love the weird setting it's in. Sorry the photo is a bit red! I rushed outside to get a pic before the sun sets all the way down.

Sorry if this was asked before but is that a saph? Also- is it a custom ring? Absolutely gorgeous!

Thank you so much, yes it is a sapphire in a custom ring that David Klass made for me. It is inspired by an art nouveau ring that I fell in love with, there are quite a few copies floating around!

Here are the threads -

Had these spinels for years, just set them. 0BD027E4-8CBA-4C71-A8CE-BC29F1091ED8.jpeg

Both are stunning but I love the blue so much! Gorgeous! Reminds me of @ForteKitty blue spinel that I totally adore

Wearing my 5+carat no-heat purple-blue sapphire ring. First photo is taken in natural light, second taken in the train.
