What are Some Negative Effects of Surface Graining?

I see lots of examples of internal graining and their light blocking effect, but I haven't seen much on surface graining effects on like a VVS2 clarity. Light blocking as well? Visible on VVS2 clarity? What are the possible negative side effects on a diamond besides seeing the graining itself ?

You would be hard pressed to detect surface graining on a VVS2 diamond let alone have negative effects visible to the naked eye at this level. In severe cases, i think they can lead to poor polishing results. The clarity or polishing rating will be testament to that.
