Round diamonds continue to be the most popular shape of diamond on the market, making up 82.97% (popularity) and increasing by 1.22% in popularity since May 2023. Oval increased in rank to second place although decreasing in popularity by 5.06% since May 2023. Emerald increased in rank to third place although decreasing in popularity by 4.15% since May 2023. Cushion decreased in rank from second place in May 2023 to fourth place in May 2024 decreasing in popularity by 61.56% since May 2023. Pear is sitting in fifth place this May 2024 kicking Radiant off the Top 5 Popular Diamond Shape Chart since since May 2023.

This May the average price per carat for a round diamond of 1 – 1.19 carat G color VS1 clarity is $6,554 compared to May 2023 which was an average price of $7,921. The average price per carat for round diamonds has decreased by 17.26% since last May.
