You have to use a ruler and measure the stones. If it says 6.5 underneath a stone diagram, adjust the zoom until it fits 6.5mm on a ruler. It depends on the calibration of your monitor, but on mine 120% zoom is pretty accurate.Date: 10/24/2007 4:39:45 PM

the only problem with that chart is that I never know what the actual size is...because what it shows should be a 1/2 carat looks like a 1 carat...

04diamond, your best bet may be to message the admin and ask him to change the topic of your post to ''Show me your 1/2-ish caraters on size 8s'' or something like that.
Then anyone who has a ring close to that carat weight, and a finger close to that size, will see the thread and (hopefully) post a pic for you.
Also, you said ''.64 diamond'' but you didn''t mention what shape diamond. Different shapes face up very differently! For instance, my 1.96 Asscher faces up the same as a 1.3ish round brilliant!!So that''s an important distinction to make.![]()
Somewhere around here is a diamond size chart, I think originally found on amazon.com. I''ll try to find the link for you! ETA: Here it is!
EagainTA: You can also look through the ''Forum Engagement Ring/Eye Candy'' thread, where you''ll find nearly every ring ever posted on PS.
I'm VERY, VERY surprised that you've never heard that before. It's a very commonly approached topic on these boards, and if you do a basic search for asschers and rounds of the same carat weight, you will see the difference in dimensions.Date: 10/24/2007 5:18:39 PM

Musey - I didn't know that about asschers? That they face up smaller than rounds...how can that be? I have heard that emeralds face up larger than rounds...but I guess that must be because of the elongating. But asschers are symmetrical.
It''ll be gorgeous and classic! Don''t worry too much about figuring out how it will look on your hand, especially if you''ve already settled on/bought the stone. Pictures can be deceiving in so many ways, and never really compare to the real-life experience of a ring, in my opinion.Date: 10/24/2007 10:10:05 PM

It will probably be in a 4 prong solitaire setting...white gold...
