Great thread! Can I join in? I want to lose a bit but more importantly get my fitness up. I have struggled with hip/leg/back pain and weakness last 4 years (since DD was born) as well as limitations in my flexibility and range of movement. I don’t know exactly what the problem is but I am very wonky ‍♀️
Any one got any ideas for exercise? (Not fancying swimming at the moment)

Hi! Welcome to the group! I’m sorry about your pain and weakness. Doctors haven’t been able to pinpoint what’s going on? Kinda hard to exercise not knowing if it’ll make the problem worse! In my opinion, I do exercises that I enjoy. For example, I love jogging, gives me that joggers high. My SIL on the other hand, I would have to drag her out kicking and screaming. But because I enjoy it, it keeps me wanting to do it everyday and doesn’t make it feel so much like a chore. So, after all that rambling, what kind of exercises do you enjoy doing? And that you are capable of doing without straining your injury?

Gah, that reminds me. I should get on mine. I’m sitting here staring at it. Cody is beckoning me. I haven’t gotten on since February when my dog got sick... And then once in May for the BTS ride (I listen to their music anyway while I ride) and it just about killed me.... so I’m scared.

Thank you @Spring Day for creating this thread.

I need to lose 40 lbs.

I used to do a LOT of walking but now due to my being immune-compromised that DH is basically locking me in this house. I can open a window and walk on the treadmill which is NOT the same. Fresh air is irreplaceable.

I'm signing up to beach body on demand which is like a buffet of exercises. I have got some dumbbells to use as well.

My goal is to work out 6 times a week for at least 20 mins. Daily intermittent fasting 16:8 (eating window is between 12-8).

Hahaha buffet of exercises. Mmmmm buffet.... what are you doing man! This is a weight loss thread! Now you got me thinking about buffets! Mmm Jasmine brunch at The Bellagio...

I'm def going to follow their cues but stay where I'm comfortable in my ranges.

Ok, so I want to lose at least 60 pounds. The last time I felt really good was when I was that target weight in 2017. By summer 2019 I had gained back 50 pounds so I got back on track and lost 25 pounds by November and kept it off until February of this year when my dog got sick and I was in a bad mental state and didn’t have time to eat right or exercise. And then shelter in place happened, I got laid off, and my other dog got CCD and I haven’t gotten more than 2-3 hours of sleep a night since April. I have now gained 30 pounds in the past 6 months and am the heaviest I have ever been.
I feel like I am at a very low point in my life. I discuss weight loss with people but don’t ever talk about the psychological and emotional problems that come with it. I always feel like it makes me feel vulnerable and open to ridicule if people knew how I felt which I know isn’t the case. But it all boils down to my childhood and my mother blaming every bad thing that happened to me on my weight. So, for me I have to work on the mental as much as the physical.

Anyway, here is what I looked like before and hope to achieve once more. I felt so good! I’m hoping with your guys’ help and support, I can do this once more.

Got my workout done! My "numbers" are NO WHERE near what they were before pregnancy but that's a given. I stayed in my target heart rate zones and did the whole ride so I'm happy! Tomorrow I'm planning on giving my legs a break and doing just an arms class and a stretch. Screenshot_20200819_153027.jpg

It is me when I was in the best shape since coming to the US in June 1998. 05/02/2015. I have all my old notes and according to them my weight was 109.0lbs the day before. One month later I was 111.6lbs. This morning I was 148.0lbs and am hoping to start losing steadily. Being almost 56y.o. and way too skinny always looked unhealthy to me, so I hope weighing around 110lbs is what I need. I will be able to wear beautiful clothes in sizes 2-4 that are waiting in my closed. They almost lost a hope to see the sun again 8-)

Can’t wait until those beautiful clothes can be brought out into the light of day again!

Btw, your dog is beautiful. Picture from 1998 you say? Your dog is probably not with us anymore but I have to say he or she is one beautiful beautiful German!

Thank you! The picture is from the May 02, 2015. The best shape I was since June, 1998. The doggie is 6y.o. now. Praising every day, cherishing every moment. The previous GSD left us at the age of 8.5 years young. ;(

Oh sorry!! I misunderstood!!! I feel terrible! Yes! Cherish every moment! My fault for reading too fast. Your GSD is really beautiful! I’m sorry about the one the passed at 8 1/2. Ugh, I feel terrible for saying this baby is gone misunderstanding or not.

I just downloaded the FitOn app. It has a ton of workout videos and it‘s totally free. I like that I don’t have to keep doing the same videos over and over. I’ve done a few videos and trust me...I’ve felt it every time. Dang, I need to get back in shape.
Damn you quarantine 15! *shakes fist at the sky*

Robin is upbeat and uplifting. She has a very inspirational story herself and is actually the head of programming for Peloton. She was actually a lawyer (graduated from Columbia in NY) and while in school was part of a hostage situation at an NYC wine bar. She was used as a human shield during negotiations. She started running after that as a way to deal with her PTSD. Her life turned to fitness after that. She's also a type 1 diabetic so that in itself is amazing. She's very open and I enjoy her live DJ rides and strength classes a lot.

Thank you! Ha well jogging is not it for me, I love walking but often get uncomfortable half way through so I cannot do anything too strenuous.
I’ve just bought a recumbent exercise bike. I’ve alway quite liked them as they don’t hurt my hips and with the back if I’m feeling really weak and struggling to hold myself up it will make that side of things easier.
At the moment it’s just sitting in my hallway blocking our front door though.
I wondered about weight training but whether that will make things worse I don’t know.

I missed my total calories by 400 yesterday. DH wanted pasta with the tri tip last night. I made enough of the meat for two nights so my plan for tonight is to cut my pasta by 1/2 which should put me 100 calories over for the day. I might shift lunch a tad so my salad goes with dinner to offset the reduced pasta.

This will get easier. I got into the routine before and I will again!

I only managed three meals today which isn't ideal for my body, but is better than I have been doing. Balanced each meal well except breakfast was still a bit carb heavy. Calories (including 3 ounce orange juice and 4 ounce milk for a coffee) are spot on for my target. I might add a 4th mini meal in a few hours so that I will be over by 100 or so calories but at the magic 4 meals per day that makes my body lose weight.

Had my first PT appointment today. I like her! Aside from complimenting my cat (virtual visit!), she had good observations and helpful suggestions. She is having me join the MS pilates class so will be doing that 3x per week as soon as they get me the link. This is a very low impact pilates.

Tonight was arm toning and an upper body stretch. I am sore in a lot of places after yesterday. Tomorrow I'll spin again but the arms will need a break. Screenshot_20200820_203407.jpg

Gah! I need to get on! I have no vet appts or anything tomorrow! No excuses! I hope my active wear fits me. The only thing I hate is the ol’ taking off the sports bra after sweating. Blech.

I'm not looking for weightloss exactly (pregnant) BUT I have been slacking in my second trimester and need to start using my Peloton again. Does anyone else have one? We have the bike and hope to add the tread sometime next year.

Love my peloton! It’s really helped me get back to my normal weight. I had a lot of extra weight on me from my second pregnancy and I just had the hardest time trying to lose it. I love working out but making it to the gym was tough with two little ones. I was 155 all of last year. Got my peloton in January. Am 128 now, which is below what I normally am. However, I really need to add in weight training. I used to weight train regularly and loved the results. The bike is just so easy. Hop on/hop off.

OMG the BEST sport bra ever is the shefit! No struggle since it zips in the front and it's very big boob/weight fluctuating friendly so you won't really need to buy new bras if your size changes unless it's extremely dramatic.

Well I have had a super healthy & fabulous week. I have either done an 8k run or done a HIIT session 6 out of the 7 mornings, just having Tuesday off. I feel a little physically fatigued & one knee is slightly achy, but i can take that for my efforts. Tomorrow will be a 6k run & then in the afternoon we're heading to this cool Aqua Park on the Mere not far from here (they set it up every summer & it's exhausting but brilliant fun) so that's extra calories to be burned.

I also had a Dr appoint with a new GP yesterday, who took my hair loss, fatigue, weight gain woes etc very seriously. I have been pushing this with my GP for 6 years without success regarding my hair & fatigue, but she tells me I do too much & my hair looks great. But it has dropped severely over the last 2 months alone & is now extremely alarming - the photos would shock you. She has ordered a billion bloods & referred me to an endocrinologist. She thinks the stubborn creep on of weight maybe related. As much as I don't want to "suffer" with an illness, I am SO relieved that somebody finally listened. I know I'm not quite right & the hair fall is the last straw. I have lost two thirds volume of my beautiful curls over 8 years :cry2:

So glad a Dr is taking you seriously! I know that struggle well. I hope you get answers and whatever it is turns out to be easy to fix.

Thank you so much, lovely. I am facing the weight gain head on, as my main priority with the endocrinologist is to sort out my hair loss. If it turns out that I've gained weight for the same reason & it can be rectified with medication, then that's a bonus. But I've made a deal with myself that I'll tackle the weight if they can get my hair to recover. So here I am, working my arse off!

I'm still coming up short on protein in my breakfast. Need to play with the food tracker some more and see if I can get it better balanced. Short of protein is less good for weight loss in my body plus tends to leave me with a short gap of feeling hungry. When I get my meals all balanced correctly, I don't feel hungry at all despite the low calorie intake. (Which is probably why the specialist has a section at the bottom of my daily log to say if I felt hungry! That would explain how she can flip through and know where to stop to see out of balance things.)

Oh my! You have one??? I have had that bra in my cart for the longest time. Multiple times I have put in all my information, last thing to do is push submit and I chicken out. I read somewhere that the velcro straps on the shoulders scratch and dig in. But when I read that I assumed operator error. Just need to line it up perfectly. What do you think?

I’m off to buy one finally! Now that I know someone that actually has it!

I am soooo glad you finally got a doctor to listen to you! It drives me crazy that some of them just dismiss you. Yea, there are the people that research on webmd and diagnose themselves before even coming in. But, most of the time, you know your own body and you feel when something is wrong. It’s so sad that we have to actively and forcibly advocate for ourselves to our doctors when we’re paying them to take care of us.
Let us know how things go after the blood test results if you’re ok with sharing!
