Jas, it sounds like some people in those videos are just having fun not necessarily working out. Interesting. Your B&J sounds yummy. That''s my favorite flavor of ice cream.

evening all...!! checking in from vegas...before i head off to bed. i really love vegas but my threshold for it is only a few days really. this is my first time at the Venetian and it's actually really nice since all the rooms are suites. so nice at insulating you from the fact that you are in smokey gross Vegas that you feel like you might be able to stay a day or two longer hehee. but i know by Thurs afternoon i'll be ready to go.

got in last nite and headed to the gym after checking in. one thing that drives me nuts about Vegas hotels and a lot of places like this is that they charge you for the gym and it's not like $5. it's $35 a day!!! so after thinking about it i bought a 3 day pass for $80. so i knew i'd at least go 3 out of 4 days if i paid for it. so i went to the gym last nite and did 50 minutes on the machines, 25 on those fab ellipticals that everyone but my gym seems to have and then 20 minutes of running and walking combo on a treadmill for about 450 cals burned. then went and did some muscle resistance bands and pushups for the arms. at this point it was about 10pm and i hadn't eaten so i wandered around the gondola shops and restaurants and finally ended up with a chicken and friut jimaca salad from this mexican taqueria place which was pretty yummy and light. then i went to bed.

today was a jam packed sales team building and training session from 8am-5pm. breakfast was a huge spread but i was so happy to see lowfat yogurt with blueberries mixed in so i had some of that with a bit of strawberry jam mixed in and some kashi golean (that i brought), a bite of a cinnamon raisin bagel and a bite of poppyseed lemon bread (the bread was so not good thats why it was just a bite). and lots of coffee. oh and a piece of bacon for some extra protein. snacks came about 10am so i had a bite of a cinnamon danish (not good at all) and a few pieces of fresh pineapple and canteloupe and a few strawberries. and lots of coffee then water. lunch was another big spread and quite tasty...grilled teriyaki chicken, i just ate the meat and no skin...a really yummy salad with mandarin oranges and vinaigrette, asian noodles, and some stir fry veggies...and then i also had a mini lemon tart, and almond cookie for dessert. ff a few more hours and thye brought in haagen daaz ice cream bars! so i had one of those, it has been over a year since i have had one and man it was good. drank LOTS more water...then we finished up our training and sessions...and headed back to our rooms. went to the gym again and did basically 40 minutes on the fab elliptical for 350 cals burned then did 200 jumping jacks back in my room for another 60 cals. showered up, met my team for dinner at Tao which was SO TASTY...we did a ton of small plate sharing. i had 2 really amazing raspberry vodka mojitos..and then we all had a bunch of things including a fabulous miso glazed seabass that literally fell off the chopsticks, wasabi crusted filet mignon, steamed lobster potstickers, thai stuffed shrimp, tempura sea scallops, chicken satay in peanut sauce, spicy cucumber salad and probably one or two other things i can't remember! i was pretty jazzed though it was like 95% protein and we didn't get any rice or anything.

after dinner we all went to this gelato place here at the Venetian that is supposedly FAB. i was SO happy to see that a scoop of this gelato only has 180 cals and 2.5g of fat!!! i was tempted to get a trough. they use skim milk but i swear this stuff is so rich and creamy...wow. so i made my coworker pinky swear with me that she will come with me tomorrow AND thurs to get a scoop of gelato so we can try diff flavors. for only 180 cals...it's like 1/2 a haagen daaz bar...i could get 2 gelato scoops and they were big!

after that everyone headed up to the rooms for some sleep but since i got in a little early last nite i had a bit more energy so i went to the shops and got greg some cigars at davidoff and went to BCBG to try on some super cute clothes, but torn on what to actually buy. note to self...clothes shopping after a huge dinner and a scoop of gelato is not super ego inspiring. figured i'd come back the morning we leave hehehe.

anyhow tomorrow is no workout day but i plan to get a lot of walking in...i have been taking 5 min breaks here and there during the sessions to go for brisk walks around the long winding ballroom hallways...and last nite and tonite i wandered around the shops walking for about 10-20 minutes as well. plus the halls are so far from our rooms and all that..we end up walking regardless. then we have a big corporate dinner and show tomorrow night, and thurs we have morning sessions..i am going to get a workout in early that morning for my third day, then we break at lunch and i'll do lunch and a little shopping with my coworker then head home. whew!!

it's fun though...and the company is really taking FAB care of us, def the best vegas offsite i've been to in a long time. sounds like everyone is having a wonderful week, hope it continues!!! oh and i don't really gamble, but i am sure good at spending money at the shops! hehee. nite all!

To borrow SanDiegoLady''s favorite saying: Oh my Stars! Marcy, your pics are fabulous, you look so different and so much healthier! What a cutie you are and you have beautiful hair...it looks like you lost a whole person! I''m so proud to have "met" you here, and so glad you joined this thread and shared your success story. You are the type of person who is so positive and gives hope to anyone out there trying to make a positive lifestyle change.
36.gif
I hate to sound all gushy, sorry, but your pics are indicative of the fact that you''ve made major progress toward your goal and I just can''t help but commend that. Great job!

I had a pretty good day, but we did order a pizza tonight which was very enjoyable. I wanted to eat more than my two medium sized pieces, but I abstained and feel much better for doing so. I had a big salad along with the pizza and was almost uncomfortably full after that, but I''m glad I filled up on roughage instead of cheese and crust, ha! I had a glass of wine before going to bed a few hours ago but then woke up again shortly after and here I am on PS.

Jas, I think maybe you are paying way too much attention to the yoga booty performers, LOL! It''s funny, though, I find myself doing the same thing when I do the Firm, some of the gals in the background just get way too into it when the lead gal says "make it your own!" and I get to laughing so hard sometimes! Same with the chair dance, there is one gal who realllly gets into it and I can''t take my eyes off her silliness and concentrate on what I''m trying to do, then i have to laugh at myself because I''m sure I look equally ridiculous. I sooo miss my ladies'' only gym classes sometimes! Alas, I can''t afford to be a member there any longer, but my instructor for my fave classes was a hoot and always had us laughing at her instead of ourselves.

Rod, can''t imagine you sulking! No really, I can''t!!! I''m not a big sulker myself, but my DH is...and I always have to make him laugh to get him out of it.
I''m glad to hear you gave yourself a strenuous workout and are feeling better!

MARA: hope Vegas is going well for you, we miss your posts here (and everywhere else, hee hee), don''t go crazy in Balenciaga--there''s a store there somewhere, or am I wrong? Anyway, I''m sure you''re having a great time and can''t wait to hear all about it!

Wow Marcy, what an incredible transformation!! You look great and I have to echo Monnie, I am so glad you are part of team WWT!!!

Mara it sounds like you are having a wonderful time - I too say YES to troughs for yummo puddings!!!

Marcy, please click here for the new astronomy thread!

* threadjack over*

Gah - sorry Stephanie - click here too for our astro thread!

Back on topic, I had a good workout last night, did a bit on the treadmill and some on the ellip, but I will have to watch it as this morning the nerves in my hips were playing up. I had just finished walking Jasmine out to her paddock, let her go, shut the gate, and as I walked off felt a sharp warning pain in my left hip. This normally happens in my right hip, so this is unusual, I will have to keep a close eye on it, of course Hubby is away too - bah!

Oh my goodness, Marcy!! Absolutely fabulous!!!!

36.gif
What an amazing transformation!!!!! Sorry for all of the exclamation points I''m just so impressed by you!

Happy Wednesday (and Weigh in for those of you who do).

Week 31
Height: 5''5"
Weight: 124.2
Bust: 31"
Waist: 26.5"
Lower Waist: 31.5"
Bicep: 12"
Hips: 35”
Thigh: 20"

I hit a new low this week, which is sorta strange, because I''ve stopped trying to lose weight, but kinda cool. The scale had been hovering around 126 so I was really suprised. My thighs have dropped .5" but everything else remains the same. It must be the extra workouts I''ve thrown in the mix and that weigh in didn''t fall the day after we''d eaten out this week. My mantra for the week is: Don''t get attached to your new low weight! Just in case it''s a total fluke and the scale pops back up to 126.

Have a fantastic morning all!

Kimberly,
You are so small. I only wish I were so slim (yeah, when I was in secondary school). Urgh...I can''t believe I still have 10 to 15 pounds to go.

Kimberly,

Thanks, Chrono, what a nice compliment. It''s so funny how demented our body images are, as we''ve discussed here before; I was standing in the mirror while doing my measurements thinking man I hate my stomach. It comes from having been so heavy at one time (I weighed 200 lbs. about 5 years ago). I guess if I ever have kids my body will have been pre-stretched!

How are you doing with that bread and rice craving? Don''t be frustrated, just think of it as another life journey!

Just jumping on PS because I forgot to write last night:

MARCY! WAY TO GO! I''M DOING THE SNOOPY HAPPY DANCE FOR YOU! YOU LOOK AWESOME!

Party on!

Marcy - Wow! That's amazing!
Jas - You have me wanting to go out and get these workouts! I want to see those crazy people!!
Mara - $35 a day!? They better have the most state of the art euipment and offer a massage with every workout! That's a little steep. Working out while away - good for you!
Kimberly - wow! I am only one inch taller than you and I don't think that I have ever had measurments like that! Congratulations!

I am feeling a little sluggish today. The scales are not looking to be in my favor. I ended my strike for weighing myself but now I can't stay off. I weighed myself yesterday morning (four pounds approx. gone) and then this morning I had gained a pound back. I know that it's more than likely just water weight, but it still effects the mood.

Happy Wednesday all! For my weigh in I'm a pound up from my low, but given what I've eaten lately I'm just glad it's not TEN pounds up!

Last night the HH made the quail with wild rice and carmelized carrots. Really good!

Marcy, those pics are amazing! You deserve such kudos for sticking with your plan and having such awesome results!

jas, how many cals an hour do you think the Snoopy Happy Dance burns? Hmmm... Might have to try that...

Kimberly, LOL on the idea of not getting attached to the new low weight. I'm sure at some point I'll hit a new low (months and months and months from now... ) and never be able to get back to it.

Chrono, I'm with you on the cardboard cereal thing.

Lorelei, take care of yourself--that warning sign in your hip is a good reason to take it easy for a few days.

Monnie, good for you on not overdoing the pizza! When my in-laws the the rest of the fam were here last week the only thing that stopped me at Gino's was that it was all gone!

Mara, I know you said you're not a gambler but it couldn't hurt to put *just a few* quarters in a slot machine... Can you say UPGRADE?!?
9.gif

Skippy, I'm just in awe over your 6:00 am walks. You really just couldn't pay me enough to walk anywhere that early--good for you!

Rod, I can't imagine you as a sulker either!

tdiddy, every day the media has some new pronouncement about what is better. Long slow workouts. Fast intense workouts. Forget it; I figure ANY workout is better than NO workout so I just do what feels good for my body.

Mrs. S., enjoy those last few days with your girls. And I know you're sad they're going to school, but think of all the things you can get done during the day when they're gone for a few hours.

Dixie, you mentioned making rice with your chicken. Do you ever make rice other than white rice? The HH mixes brown and wild rice and it delish! Not to mention much healthier. And he also uses fat free chicken stock rather than water--makes all the difference in the world!

Stephanie, good for you and the two piece bathing suits!

Shortblond, your fried rice sounds great!

DeeJay,

It''s crazy how attached one can become to a number! I am all about the scale because it''s what holds me accountable but I need to remember that I am still the same me whether it reads 124 or 126, it''s hard to draw the line between healthy and obsessive though!

You''re looking fabulous there Marcy!! And you should be SO PROUD of yourself and happy that you''ve done something so incredibly healthy for you too! You go girl!!

Mara: I''m not a gambler either. I actually don''t like Las Vegas at all and our company used to make us go there once a year for annual meetings, only to lock us up in a meeting room from 7 AM to 10 PM every day. Many would then hit the tables at that hour and stay up half the night trying to win their money back. Rarely did anyone make much if any money. What I always did was take 4 quarters with me. Most of the time those 4 quarters would yield absolutely nothing from a slot machine, which was just fine with me. One year, the 4 quarters turned into nearly $200 dollars and I happily put the money in my wallet and gambled no more the rest of the trip. I wasn''t into fitness in those years, so I never used one of the gyms. While $35/day seems steep, I''d pay it too!

Enjoy the lower weight Kimberly. You worked out hard last week and that''s probably what helped take the extra pound off.

And yes, Rod is indeed a sulker. He so tries so hard to control it, but it''s so part of his genetic makeup that sometimes when he''s least expecting it, a sulk comes on that lingers and annoys the crap out of Charlie! LOL

Had my teeth cleaned this morning. All was just fine and now it''s lunch time and I''m ravenous. I never got my morning snack, so I''m exta hungry.

Have a great day everyone!

Marcy, kudos!!!!! YOU LOOK AWESOME

Mara, I had the gelato in that food court area; it was supper yummy! Gosh, I don''t understand why the gym''s in the LV hotels cost so much money. It isn''t just the Venetian that charges for the gym. Hope the food at the meetings gets better.

Monarch, kudos on eating only 2 slices!!! Pizza is my weekenss
15.gif

Jas, yay for having fun w/your workouts and spicing things up. hehehe

Kimberly, kudos for maintaining; you and Mara keep me motivated!!!
41.gif

Stephanie kudos on losing!

Lorelei, thanks for the astro thread

Dee great job on only 1 lb; it will melt off in no time!

Rod, I am like you too; when I am sulkey (not sure if it is a word hehe) but I annoy Mr.Skippy and make him cheer me up.
9.gif

I actually have to walk tonight because I had to be somewhere early this morning at the last min. I rather walk at 6am because it is much cooler and easier to walk when it is cool! Happy Hump Day

Way to go Marcy!!! What an AMAZING DIFFERENCE!! You should be SO PROUD AND HAPPY!!

You seem to have an awesome attitude and approach to this whole thing and its clearly working.

So I think I might have an answer to why I''ve been so sluggish this week - I woke up this morning with a sore throat. Between that, the fact that I want to sleep all day (VERY unusual for me - I''m usually really high-energy), and that my asthma has been a little worse, I think I have some kind of upper respiratory infection. So even though I''m tempted to ignore it and try to do all my work and workouts and so forth, experience has taught me its probably smarter to go home as early as possible and take a nap with the kitties.

Sweet napping AmberG and get better.

Rod, my compadre who cacoons and doesn''t like Vegas. I''ve been once or twice and have no desire to ever go back. It''s too crowded and dirty for me, and I hate to lose money so I don''t gamble. Whenever I do I end up thinking "I could have bought a great new (insert clothing item here) instead!"

Today was a bit crazy at work, both of our out of control kids were just off the deep end today and my little friend with Angelman''s Syndrome scratched the heck outta my arms, he was not himself today, sorta strange. I''d like to take a nap but I really need to focus on school. We''re going out to dinner and I want to get a workout in before hitting the shower. I''d better get busy!

Sometimes placing a humidifier in your bedroom works to help ward off an uri. Or take a long hot shower. For some reason, this time of year I always have these types of flare ups, but they go away in a couple of days.

Thanks Skippy and Stephanie - I''m just wrapping up here at work and then hopefully heading home soon. That''s not a bad idea about the shower Stephanie - we are socked in by fog at the moment so the air is plenty humid but sometimes the hot showers do help a bit. I feel really guilty about going home instead of to the gym, but I keep trying to tell myself its better to rest now and be better sooner...yeah, right...

Afternoon again all,

I managed to plow through schoolwork and got in a good workout, hip hip hooray!

AG, I''m so sorry you aren''t feeling well!

Hi everyone!

Good to be back home! I have been in San Francisco all week visiting FI and doing wedding junk with limited computer time, so I haven't really checked in.

Pants are fitting well, so I assume that my week away didn't really do too much damage. I did try and eat well, PLUS I walked to every one of my wedding appointments in SF, so I think that did some good.

Beware, OT rant coming: I did come home to a major annoyance. My landlord who came over to fix the sink while I was gone, went and totally defrosted my freezer (it's horrible and not frost free, thank GOD we are moving out in 2 weeks). My food does seem to be in there mostly, but I think he let some things thaw and then refroze them because when I took some shrimp out for dinner they looked/smelled a bit off.
29.gif
Not to mention the fact that a few things that were in the freezer ended up in the fridge AND he moved absolutely everything on my back porch. I have NO idea why, there shouldn't be any reason to move things because they weren't in the way of anything!!! It's not like he had to move any major machinery in here AND he could have easily gone in and out the front door if he was worried about something in the back. I was really annoyed about the freezer though because I was starving and had to run out and get something from TJ's for dinner before I could eat. WHY THE HECK would he have defrosted my freezer without calling me to ask? Weird...

Ugh.

Ok, sorry for the OT vent. It sounds like everyone is doing well in their goals. Mara, I cannot believe you paid $80 for a gym for three days! That is certainly dedication!!!

And Marcy, you LOOK FAB! Be proud of your achievements, you have come so far over the past year.

Despite all of the tempting food that came my way today I somehow managed to resist it all and I'm coming in at 1190 cals (assuming one more Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich doesn't sneak into my hand on my way up to bed in a little while!).

So I made this stunning discovery today. Oranges are only 45 cals; bananas are 120. What am I doing eating so many damn bananas?! It's amazing when you start really looking up the cals in food and considering what you eat how many substitutions you can make to save here and there. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to eat an orange EVERY time I want a banana, but seriously, I do like oranges too, and 75 cals is 75 cals!

My stitches come out tomorrow and I am SO excited! I CAN'T WAIT to get back to the gym. My motivation flagged there for a few days, but I put on a pair of pants today that even a few months ago were absolutely a no-go and now they're too big. Woo hoo! We're going to Orlando for my annual family trip at the end of September and for the first time in YEARS I'm not *absolutely* cringing at the idea of a bathing suit.

I hope your evening walk was good Skippy!

Amber, so sorry you''ve come down with a URI. I hope your nap was restful and you feel better soon.

Sorry about the out of control child scratching your arm Kimberly. I still think what you do is saintly and there''s a place already reserved for you on a lovely cloud up high when you''ve lived all the full life you could live! Glad you managed to get in a good workout and I hope you enjoy your dinner out tonight!

Yay for having stitches removed DeeJay. We''ll look forward to hearing about your first gym experience soon! And I''m betting one of the reasons you eat banana''s is for the pottasium, which they''re really high in and ladies in particular seem to need extra pottasium. So calories aside, if you enjoy them and they''re not making you fat, which they really shouldn''t be doing, don''t cut them out of your diet over a few calories.

I got some news about my BMW today that was pretty exciting. It turns out it''s on a ship headed for America and will hit the port of Jacksonville, FL., on July 31, and be at my dealer in Tampa about a week to 10 days later. This is nearly a month ahead of schedule, so I''m pretty excited. It gives me something to look forward to as opposed to me obsessing over my biopsy in three weeks. Anyway, Woo Hoo on the car being so close.

I had a really good workout tonight. Actually a bit more intense than I typically do on a Wednesday night, but I slept better last night and I had bit more energy. Tomorrow will be day three of three days in a row and I usually push the hardest on Thursday since we take Friday off. Anyway, nothing monumental to report, just a good strong workout. Afterward, for dinner, I had homemade beef vegetable soup with chunks of beef and big ol chunks of veggies in a tomato based broth. Yumm to the max. I''ll have my chocolate squares and my fuji apple shortly.

Have a nice night all.

here it comes Rod!!!

whooo hoooo, I want a ride!!!!

Got back from a walk w/hubby just now. It is starting to get dark sooner.

I decided I will get up at 6 am tomorrow because it is much warmer in the evening.

I ate all kinds of naughty things today since I was having a crazy day
11.gif
Back on track tomorrow.

Kimberly, I am sorry about the little boy; you will be the best mom when you have kids. You have so much love in your heart.
Great job on working out and finishing your school work!

Amber, try airborne; it always helps me. Get some rest you body probably needs it.

Neatfreak, that is awful about the freezer; so sorry!!!

Dee yay, for no more stitches tomorrow

Great job posting the pic of my toy to be Skippy and you come on over to Tampa when I get the car and we'll not only go for that ride, we'll sit under the oak tree I speak of so often and have coffee and a scone from Starbucks/Panera, we'll have Sushi at Favorite Sushi spot # 1 (and #2 if you like), we'll have frozen yogurt with the Active Yogurt Cultures and we'll sit on our terrace and watch the cruise ships sail by!!!! As the announcer always said to contestants on The Price is Right......."Skiippy Come On Down!"

Rod and Skip, my poor little guy doesn''t know his own strength, he''s a 12 month old in a 3 year olds'' body. He drew a bit of blood though, and I have to be concerned with infection and such. John cleaned my arm up when I got home and all is well. He''s just constant motion and things in his mouth so he can''t be left alone for any amount of time; he drains me, I have no idea how his mom does it (she has two other kids including a newborn!). My other little friend, the one I was hired to work with has been gone for a few weeks. He has cerebral palsy and was having difficulties eating so they had a feeding tube put in last Tuesday. I miss him a lot and just keep hoping that he and his family are and will be okay. What a trying time for all of them.

We had dinner at a Cuban/Floridian place tonight. I had pulled pork about 3/4 cup of saffron rice and some black beans...delicious! It was nice to go out with hubby too!

Have a great evening all!

Hi everyone,
I''m getting a bit better at keeping up on this thread again and it''s fun! I just have to read at least once a day or it gets a little crazy for me!

Skippy, thanks for the congrats! When I did my weigh-in at Jenny, it was only 1.2 so I am going w/the scale at home.
9.gif
I have 4 more weeks w/the program and then I''m on my own. I am trying to cook a bit more so that the transition won''t be so difficult.

Rod, I don''t particularly like getting up in the morning either! I''m definitely an evening person but of course, that doesn''t help those morning wake-ups! I agree about letting in some good stuff in the diet here and there. But for now, I''m trying to stay pretty good since I want to keep losing. I do treat w/frozen yogurt and sprinkles though or sometimes a dipped cone. I just love those. And of course today, when I had Pad Thai. Yum!

Tdiddy, that''s great that your sister lives so close! I''m sure it''s fun and it seems like it''s great for your diet too! Oooh, I love apple and pb! One of my favorite snacks but I become so addicted to pb that I only have it every once in awhile. I think I could eat 1/2 a jar by itself.
38.gif

Marcy, I *wish* could avoid chocolate completely. I would go insane though! I actually have a dessert every day (included in my program) but it''s not the same as real milk chocolate. Ok, I can''t even talk about chocolate w/o wanting some so I will stop now. Sounds like you''re doing very good as using it as a motivator. Congrats!
Also, your pics are wonderful! You have done amazing! Congratulations on all the hard work paying off! That is truly wonderful!!
36.gif

Jas, those tapes do sound interesting! The ice cream sounds good and that''s great that you stuck to a perfect 1/2 cup!

Wow Mara, that gym fee is crazy! But that''s great that you''re keeping up w/your workouts. Your dinner sounded soooo good.

Monarch, congrats on keeping the pizza to a limit. I''m not a huge pizza fan but when I do have it, it is hard to just eat one or two slices. It''s addicting!

Lorelei, be careful with your hip! Should you call the dr?

Chrono, I still have a ways to go too with the weight. Ideally, I''d like to about 15 more lbs, although it''s been so long since I''ve been there that I may want to keeping losing when I get there. I just really try to go 1 lb at a time. It helps my mental state so much!

Stephanie, 4 lbs is fantastic! Don''t worry too much about 1 lb coming back. That''s still 3 lbs which is great!! I think that''s definitely in your favor!

Kimberly, sounds like you''re doing everything right, great job! Sorry you had a tough day at work. There are definitely those days but good for you for getting in your workout.

DJ, I have made brown rice before but it always tasted a little hard to me so I haven''t made it in awhile. Maybe I''ll try again. Hmm, never thought of using chicken stock instead of water. Great idea! But my other problem is that I like it to cook quick so I usually do those packets that only take 5 mins. or so. Does brown rice come in those?
How did your HH make the carrots? I usually just buy the prepackaged ones from the frozen section but I''m sure it''s healthier to make them yourself.

Amber, sorry you''re not feeling well. Hope you were able to get some rest.

Ok, now I''m sooo tired and this post is absurdly long so I''m off to sleep! Gnite all.
