I should not complain, considering how much gmail costs. ( nothing)
But I really detest the new interface. Now they're basicially saying if you don't like it, well, too bad. Notice the two choices offered. ARGHH
Anyone else?

Maybe if enough people complain they'll leave a "classic" view as an option....

My gmail is corporate so maybe a bit different than what you guys see, but I like it for the most part. I love that I can now see my calendar without having to use a totally separate browser window.

But I don't like the synching. I have a personal gmail which needs to be totally separate from business and Google wants to merge them (thats a NO) So I use a sandbox to keep them separate. On my phone they stay separate.

What just about makes me sick is the last Outlook update which just blows but thats another story.

I like Protonmail - Switzerland-based and secure, so they won't be harvesting your emails for any nefarious purposes...

I have been paying yahoo $19.99 a year for years and now as of next time it will be $39.99? WTH? It's not like it's amazing or anything. I don't even sync my calendar.

I'll one-up you, red... I pay $11.99 for AOL every MONTH. I've had the email handle since college, so I just can't bring myself to get rid of it. LOL

I tried Gmail and HATED IT. Maybe it's because it really sucks, or more likely, because I'm a creature of habit who dislikes change.

I’m confused. What do you pay for?

COULD NOT AGREE MORE. It's HORRIBLE.

This is me and I will probably pay it. :roll2:

What the heck do you get for $11.99 a month? Does it answer all your emails too? I pay for the privilege of not having ads and I get two emails that I can read together so that is kinda nice because I don't have to log out and in again for each of them. I do have a gmail account but don't use it too much. It is also linked to my yahoo so I can read them all in one place. All of that is why I will probably keep paying.

God, I wish... I guess I'm paying for the privilege of "keeping my AOL account." I'm crazy for it, I know. :(

I don't understand - AOL is free. My mom still uses the AOL interface for her email and still has the same email address as when she paid for it as her dial-up internet service provider. Is AOL your ISP? If it isn't, you don't have to pay to keep your aol.com email address.

That's so strange... I've been paying for it for YEARS! I will definitely look into this. My ISP is Charter. I'm going to be so pissed if I've wasted HUNDREDS!

Thanks for the info, @Maria D!!

OMG... So since I had an AOL account previously, they have continued to bill me. I feel like an idiot. Lesson learned. UGH!!

I am glad you found out so you can save some money now.

I've been trying to cancel using the instructions on this page, but of course, the options aren't there like they explain... I guess I'll be on hold with AOL Support for 2 hours. Sheesh!

Thanks again for the info!!

hmmmm....sneaky of them!

I remember helping my mom cancel a while ago but I don't remember if it was a hassle or not. Good luck!

You might want to look into this more closely. I still have an old aol email from college, same scenario, I have had it so long that I can't bring myself to completely get rid of it. However, I don't pay for anything. I remember years ago paying for aol when it was our internet server, but that was probably 20 years since I have payed anything to aol. Check your account settings, I am sure that there was an option that was free.

Should have read the whole thread before posting. I see you got great advise regarding AOL, glad that you have it sorted out now and at least will no longer be charged.

What are the changes to Gmail? I have a gmail email, but I read it on the mail app on my mac, not logged thru google.

I use a Windows computer- I don't see any difference on iPhone or iPad- maybe your mac won't change.

In terms of changes....there's a huger "snooze" button right here you might want to have an inbox button- which is now smaller and below the snooze button.
Then we have the suggested text.
I am an old fogey- I'll admit.
But I think that people need to be able to compose their own letters without Alexa's ( or whatever ai) help.
It's a time saver for sure- it learns what you write and gets to anticipate what you're going to write.
Creepy.
Welcome to our world I guess.

Check out your privacy options in your Windows 'settings' menu - if you don't turn it off (and probably even if you do  ) it records your typing style...

It would be nice to be able to do things without 'big data' being harvested and one being analysed at every turn for no particular reason...
