I posted before about this, but I can’t seem to make up my mind. I currently have a .94 ct round diamond that my dad found and purchased for my husband to give me (husband obviously paid him back!). I would love a bigger stone, but this one is sentimental, and with four kids (the first just starting college), I just don’t foresee a bigger diamond in my near future. I reset this diamond from a plain solitaire into a round halo, which I do like, but the bands (soldered together) are VERY dainty and the ring sits low to my hand making stacking hard. I would like something a little more substantial and able to stack. I have been emailing back and forth with David Klass and can’t seem to decide which direction I want to go. I want the diamond to look the best it can! I’m worried that getting rid of the halo will make the diamond seem too small after being used to it with the halo, but I’m also drawn to more classic stacking looks without a halo. I ordered some from Berricle (I think that’s the site) in some styles I was considering, and the halo definitely took up the most real estate. But now I’m considering a 3 stone ring as a classic way to reset that will take up more real estate. It was just my 20th anniversary this year, so a 3 stone would make sense in that regard. I’m just looking for opinions! I know no one can decide for me, I just can’t seem to decide what to do. Probably getting a bigger diamond would be the most satisfying thing, but I just don’t think I’m going to be able to do that. I’m going to attach pictures of my current ring and pictures of some David Klass rings I have liked that I have discussed with him. He hasn’t done drawings for me yet - should I start getting him to do that and then tweak things? I just feel bad getting him to start until I really know what I want.
Dont start on CADs until you know what you want. I really like the first and second ring choices of the ones you purchased. A 3 stone may give you
the extra finger coverage you desire. Have you tried on any 3 stones close to your diamond size? I dont think 3 stones are as easy to stack with as
a solitaire (it can be done though). .25 (.5 ctw) would be nice size 5 stones for your stone IMO.
How do you feel about this option...this is a .8 stone with .5ctw sides
I really like those. I like more contrast between the center stone and the side stones, so I was thinking .25 for side stones. I’m going to a jewelry store today to try on some three stone. I think the problem is that I really want a larger center stone but don’t know if I’ll ever get one. I really want an eternity band also to pair with whatever I get. I feel like halos are so pretty but I’m a little over them.
Happy anniversary! I like the first 2 berricle stacks you posted. If you feel what you really want is a larger center stone maybe doing an expensive reset won't scratch that itch. You may end up wasting money on a temporary fix. Can you use the money that you would have used for a reset and additional stacking bands towards buying a larger new diamond in a simple setting? You could add more elaborate bands later. Other people here know a lot about how to get you the most for your money and what vendors to go with, if you give them a budget. I have to wait to get the band I want because we put almost all of the upgrade budget into the diamond. Best wishes and congratulations .

OP: Is your current diamond GIA or AGS certified; and if so, do you have the lab report? It may be possible to upgrade it with another vendor if the one you purchased from doesn’t offer any upgrade program. Otherwise, I think I’d save my pennies on a reset, and instead put them toward an upgrade in the future when you’re able. Otherwise, you’ll likely be back in a year or two (maybe less) looking for help in trying to find another solution, when it seems - based on your posts - you know what your ideal solution really is, even if it’s not attainable right this moment.
That said, a three-stone might scratch the ‘need more bling’ itch for now and would be fine, so long as you accept that - if you do go for a larger center diamond down the road - you may be spending money unnecessarily for a short term fix that ultimately may delay the long-term goal.
