Want to know if im being realistic

I have a question for you guys.

I am in the opening process of purchasing an engagement ring. I know my budget is going to be between 4k-6k (hoping toward the lower range) my girlfriend has expressed interest in a 1ct. solitaire round diamond.

Am I unrealistic to set the budget at 4k? Please give me an idea what im looking at and what I should be looking for the most.

I think it's very doable. I think you can get a great I SI1 with a simple solitaire at the lower end of your budget. Have you got any requirements in terms of colour/clarity?

H is usually a safe colour for most people, and lots would be happy with an I. Do you know if your girlfriend is colour sensitive?

I think we could find you a stone for around $4k if you can go with a .90+ carat stone, and maybe an SI1/I color combination. You'll want to set aside some funds for the setting, too, but all in, around a $5k is very workable with a firm upper limit.

she has not given me an answer on what she would like clairty wise but keep in mind she isn't super picky. But at the same time I have a wedding on that is going to be on my shoulders to pay for amoung everyday priorities. I can swing 6k or so if I save longer, would like to keep it in the 4 range though

If you and your lady are ok with J or K color, 4k~4.5K should be enough. Ask her
