Im still trying to decide on a stone. There is a vs1 with feathers, no flourescence, 59 depth, 59 table, 34 crown, 40.6 pavillion, .9 on HCA. It is 1.01 ct, 6.56x6.58x3.88. The other stone is IF with faint flourescence, 58.8 depth, 60 table, 32.5 crown, 41 pavilion. Also 1.01, 6.58x6.6x3 8. 1.3 on HCA.

I am waiting for pictures, but am hesitant about the feathers. On the GIA report they are below the table. The IF stone is 200 less. Any advice woukd be greatly appreciated!

Feathers in VS1 is a non-issue.

Online vendor, they emailed images, and both look like the same picture.

I agree, non-issue for GIA graded VS1.

As far as the cut of the two stones go, both are outside of the parameters I use when choosing a diamond. I would eliminate your second one because of the low 32.5 crown angle.Do you have depth and table labels reversed on the second one? The first one I will wait to see the light return images before commenting.

These are measurements to help you stay in ideal cut territory with a GIA excellent cut stone.

table: 54-58

depth: 60-62.3

crown angle: 34-35.0 (up to 35.5 crown angle can sometimes work with a 40.6 pav angle)

pavilion angle: 40.6-40.9 (sometimes 41.0 if the crown angle is close to 34)

The numbers are good, considering you are looking for a 60/60; very promosing.
It is just those are not well taken images to properly assess the appearance of the diamond. Plus, no IS image is given.

I would require better photos and IS image before I commit 7k.

The ASET does not show any detrimental light leakage.
It appears to have good amount contrast as well for 60/60.
Crazy spread for 1.0c,

If price is right and vendor's return policy is good, why not??

I think the crown is too low. Sorry.

Diamond reflect.

They reflect color and light. Light is comprised of color (that's why rainbows exist).

So that diamond is doing its job and reflecting something in the photography set up.

The color and clarity are fine. That crown is not. It is too low.

What crown do you think it should have?

The stone we are referring to has a 34 crown, 40.6 pavillion, 59 depth, and 59 table. It is the vs1 listed above with feathers.

Sorry. Great then. Never mind. Thought it was the 32.5 stone.

I will not comment on either diamond being in the trade, but as for your original question about feathers John Pollard made what I consider to be a GREAT post about feathers that can be seen here: (The link should take you directly to his excellent post about feathers.)
