Usual timeframe for refunds on returned stones

So I purchased a stone and it wasn't the color I was looking for - web pics were very different than real life. Anywho, I sent the stone back and the vendor received it on 9.13. I emailed them on 9.19 to ask about when I could expect my refund - noticed the stone was back on their website. Was advised that it would be processed within 2 weeks from receipt, so 9.27.

On 10.1, still no refund is processed, so I reach out to them and ask about it. Was told it would be processed the next day, October 2. So today, still no refund. I reach out to them and they tell me they processed it yesterday and to call paypal. I contact paypal via chat, and paypal has no record of this refund. So I email back the vendor, with copies of the chat session from paypal. And I also called and left them a voicemail message asking for a return call.

I am unreasonable to think my refund should have been processed by now? Am I getting the run around with this vendor? Thoughts/advice would be appreciated as I'm really getting annoyed with how much time and energy I've put into obtaining a refund.:angryfire:

I would open a ticket with PayPal since they don’t have any record of a refund being processed

I you paid by credit card and get no luck with either the vendor or evil paypal, you should be able to ring the card company and get the refund credited back to your card that way, I think.

IMO, having to wait two weeks after the stone was returned was excessive. I recognize vendors need to recheck stones when returned but the fact it’s already relisted would lead one to think it was returned in original condition. The fact that you paid via PayPal works in your favor. I agree with @KKJohnson, you should file a ticket now. IIRC, they only allow 45 days in which to dispute purchases, so I wouldn’t delay submitting it.

The company you bought from is reputable. They may have let a(nother) bit of admin regarding your return slip through the cracks, but they’re not going to try to cheat you out of your refund to make a quick buck, no worries there.

Of course, there’s still the annoyance of having to babysit the process. I would recommend calling PayPal one more time today - sometimes it does take a full day for everything to register where it ought...

Is the vendor still being responsive?

If so I'd reach out and level with them so they know your concern and frustration. Any good business owner can relate to the value of cash flow and by keeping your refund they are messing with yours and inadvertently keeping you from moving on.

If speaking to a CSR level, I would elevate to a person of higher authority.

If they are non responsive or not handling to your satisfaction, then advise you will open a PP claim and do so. Also there are options to dispute with the credit card company too.

Hopefully it's just a misunderstanding but with the time frames involved and the fact they missed deadlines given to you I feel the company has some burden to make this right ASAP.

Keep in mind, even the best companies experience speed bumps from time to time. How they handle them makes all the difference in the world.

I received confirmation late yesterday afternoon that my refund is on it's way. Thanks everyone, for your input.
