Using ants to get what we want...

If you make your living in the diamond business, security is always a concern. This shows you can never be too careful :-o

The Great Ant Caper
You would think ants would be more attracted to actual capers. But it turns out ants love them some bling too!

Just use monkeys @Starfacet, they are bigger and can carry much larger stones. :lol-2:

Maybe he thought it was a giant sugar crystal. :P2

@Texas Leaguer I'll be training my ant army to snatch only the super ideals and how to work in teams to bring me the big ones!!
@Starfacet I may be forced to report you to the authorities. There are laws against conspiracy.
At the very least, if we have any inventory shrinkage, you may become a prime suspect. :D

I think this ant is a prosumer's pet and he is just taking out the trash as that diamond is so poorly cut that it does NOT pass muster at Pricescope.

Good ant! Well done.

Wink

But what would an ant do with a big diamond? They should have let her carry it to wherever it was she thought it should be to find out.

BTW, it's a she. Ant biology, but maybe also a love of the shiny.

Yes. The feds should do surveillance. They might find a treasure trove down there.
But it won't be easy. Did you notice how the little culprit would turn around frequently to see if anyone was following?

Clearly a professional.

I envision an ant suffering from DSS and her friends on AntScope encouraging her to go for the stone the size of her body. Additionally I concluded it was likely an ant of Western culture as it was all about size but had tints of color in it.

Maybe she was obsessed with dispersion and was not satisfied with the usual quartz pebbles.
A Fire Ant I suspect.

This thread just made me laugh out loud at work. I love it!

I'm sure that by now she has had a chance to take some pictures and post results back on AntScope. Without doubt, @SledgAnt has voiced concern for AGS/GIA certification so angles can be reviewed to confirm cut quality, and inquired if any ASET, IS and H&A images are available to review along with a video and has posted some gorgeous super ideal options. And most likely @RockyAnt has used magical powers to determine what type of setting will be used, posted marked up versions of said settings with sound reasoning why one is better than the other, and maybe even started pencil sketching some preliminary CAD's for the custom setting about to be born. Not so quietly in the background @msopAnt04 is chanting that GIA XXX is good enough and size matters most. She thinks if the diamond covers 80% of her body instead of 75% it will be considerably better.

Rough calculations of a fire ant body is 2-6mm but we will utilize 4-5mm as the "average". An anticipated 75-80% body coverage results in a target size of around 0.20-0.25ct (3.8-4mm) round stone. Although if any influences are made that more body coverage can be had with a pear, oval, etc those may turn into a highly desired item.

I would not anticipate that she would be anti-GIA or anti-AGS. Nor do I think she would be anti-fluorescence for that matter. In my experience you don't get antsy about things like cut quality or light performance unless you are actually paying for them. And I did not see her carrying a receipt. Just saying.

Breaking News

It was discovered that the ant did not steal a diamond, but rather pulled off an elaborate heist for what turned out to be moissanite. While some of the ants were impressed with the sparkly gem, those in the know quietly commented on how it would have been less obvious if it had been an August Vintage moissy.

You guys are killin me!! :mrgreen2::lol-2:

Well, it always bugs me to see criminants developing new ways of cheating the system when I have to pay for my diamonds.
