Well I narrowly escaped buying a shoddy EGL International certified diamond from brilliance.com and am waiting for my money back. I need a new diamond urgently - and I am wanting to purchase this diamond:

Diamond Report GIA
Shape Emerald
Carat Weight 0.95 ct.
Cut VG
Color H
Clarity VVS1
Depth 66.7
Table 68
Polish Very Good
Symmetry Very Good
Girdle -
Culet NONE
Fluorescence N
Measurements 6.89x4.89x3.26

The only thing I am worried about is the girdle description - is this bad? Can someone please help me? Thanks so much!!

BTW the diamond will be bezel set - will this help?

It looks to me as if the girdle description is missing. It''s the cutlet that''s listed as none. Do you have the GIA report number? Perhaps you can get the girdle information off of it.

How much is your budget?
there should be better ones out there.

Ideally I don't want to spend any more than $2700 if I don't have to! All other diamonds in the 2-3000 mark seem to be smaller size wise, I want the biggest size possible without having to go lower that VS2/H/Very Good cut. Could you please let me know what you think is wrong with this one? Thanks for your help!

Found it! Here are the details from the GIA report:

Measurements: 6.89 x 4.89 x 3.26 mm

Carat Weight: 0.95

Color Grade: H

Clarity Grade: VVS1

Proportions:

Depth: 66.7 %

Table: 68 %

Girdle: Thin to Medium

Culet: None

Finish:

Polish: Very Good

Symmetry: Very Good

Fluorescence: None

Can anyone help? I am hoping to buy this diamond tonight as it fits my budget

don't like the table/depth combo. That combo tend to have very shallow crowns which makes for a dull diamond with little fire.

nothing better is coming up under $2700 without dropping under H or below .90
That one is cheap for a reason more than likely.

Thanks...

I thought all Very Good/Excellent cut diamonds would have good sparkle?? Is that not important in the cut evaluation? Boy it is hard to buy a diamond on the internet! I am running out of patience now, and out of time! I need to find one now lol.

Would this one really be that bad? It is $2500.

I cant tell you it is bad but it does have the potential to be less than optimal.
Unfortunately when it comes to fancy cuts the vg/ex designation is worthless.
No one has a cut grading system that works for them.
The best thing you can do is find one with potential then get it called in to a vendor for pictures then review those pictures for potential then make the final decision with your eyes.
That cant be done overnight however so I''m not sure what to tell you.
